Re: Have 8-year Old Ecosystem Shrimp - Not sure what to do

Turkey baster worked! No bubbles or sand balls! :D

Re: Have 8-year Old Ecosystem Shrimp - Not sure what to do

So here's the finished product of my 0.25 jar if anyone is interested (I put a paper towel behind it so you can hopefully see it better. Man, I can't believe how stressful that was for me! Now to fill it with water and wait. Gonna try to use a turkey baster and go real slow to try to not dis...

Re: A question of "hygiene"

But I won't know until I put shrimp in and they die? Hmmmm. So confusing! My perfectionistic personality is getting the better of me here and I'm not wanting to mess with it. Lol

A question of "hygiene"

Soooooo, I was goofing around with another small jar last night using some of the leftover bits and pieces I had from the main tank I'm building. To my surprise, I actually like what I created ALOT. But here's the rub.... I wasn't expecting to use it yet, so I hadn't rinsed any of it off! I could pr...

Re: Have 8-year Old Ecosystem Shrimp - Not sure what to do

So, I had purchased a hydrometer not realizing you have to submerge it in the tank. Of course, that isn't going to work with my little jars. If I use Mustafa's method, do I even need to worry about measuring? I've seen conflicting information, so just want to be certain and do the best I can for Tro...

Re: Coral + bleach + prime = OK?

No bleach smell that I can detect (and I have a powerful sniffer).

Re: Coral + bleach + prime = OK?

Thanks! I will put it in water and see if I smell anything. And will probably boil for good measure. Testing with one shrimp would be fine, but I can only order them in batches of 10. 😜

Coral + bleach + prime = OK?

Hi, I found a pretty piece of coral at a local aquarium shop which is, obviously, geared more towards pure salt water tanks. I'm going to quote what he said since I don't actually understand it so I don't mess up. Lol He said "I soaked the coral in bleach to give it that pretty pure white appea...

Re: Have 8-year Old Ecosystem Shrimp - Not sure what to do

I actually found a very small ladle that fits through the top of both tiny jars! I'm hoping to be able to scoop him up that way. :D

Re: Sand balls??

I took a picture of the sand balls and surface bubbles. They don't seem to be going away on their own. Any attempt to thwart them just creates more bubbles. So, you think the shrimp will eliminate this once they are introduced and start moving around in there? It's super annoying! ;-)

Re: 1/4 gallon tank - OK for 10 shrimp?

Ahhh, OK. Yes, please, if someone knows for sure, let me know! I can easily set up a second tank if necessary. I just wanted to make sure I did this one right first to see if they survived before I attempted multiples.

1/4 gallon tank - OK for 10 shrimp?

Hi,

I see the minimum order for shrimp on this site is 10. Is my 0.25 gallon jar sufficient for 10 shrimp? My original ecosphere was half this size and had 7 shrimp in it for a time. They didn't seem to be crowded.

Or should I make 2 jars and split them up?

Thanks!
