From another Opae tank?
When in doubt, it never hurts to clean everything before adding it to the tank.

Re: Shrimp Poop Overload?
Are you sure it's poop? It looks like some sort of gelatinous fungus.

Re: New to this Forum and Opae Ula
There are posts on here from people who can explain it better than me. But, if you're worried about it, I know some people also use snails early on in the cycling process to help things along. You could try that.

Re: New to this Forum and Opae Ula
Agree with Ula Hula. I just did what was recommended on this site. I have three small jar tanks. Once I filled them with water I just sat them near a window until I saw algae growth; no chemicals. The one in my office I didn't have a window for so I got a cheap led light off Amazon and had it runnin...

Re: New setup question and small casualty
Sorry to hear about your shrimp.
One small shrimp in a two-gallon tank shouldn't pose a problem. It's more likely the other shrimp will find it and eat it before it decays (gross, but it's what they do). I wouldn't worry about it.

The ambling about and feeding on the surfaces is their normal pace.

Re: Distilled water top off
I only used distilled water for top offs and have had no issues. Brand doesn't matter. I buy whatever the store has at the time.

Re: How to safely clean glass
Depends on how big your tank is. For the jar I have on my work desk I just use a toothbrush to scrub down the front-facing portion of the glass.

Re: Dried sea fans?
Pretty sure. I never saw any other berried females. It's a small tank with nowhere to really hide and I check in on them almost everyday, so I'm pretty confident they are from the last batch if babies. They aren't larval anymore just really, really tiny shrimp.

Re: Dried sea fans?
I have one in a jar tank and as others have mentioned, it's slowly rotting away. I can't say for certain it's harming the shrimp but there was a slow die off a while back until the remaining 3 shrimp had a few batches of babies. But many of those babies don't seem to have survived. There should be a...
