Re: Simply try out another tank

Of course there isn't much left, but that doesn't look like cyanobacteria but some type of brown algae to me. Cyanobacteria tend to grow in carpets and then peel off your substrate and walls of the tank in one large piece. This is why it's very hard to explain this to you Mustafa, it was thick gree...

Re: Simply try out another tank

The problem is that nerites don't eat cyanobacteria. Most things don't eat cyanobacteria You need the "brackish water snails", either Melanoides tuberculata or Tarebia granifera. The snails and the shrimp will take care of things after a few weeks to months. I don't know how to explain th...

Re: My opae berried, she dropped? Or....what's this?

I also want to thank you for sharing! You make great gifs! It's interesting to discover for the first time how tiny really the babies are. :) As for the floating eggs...that's interesting to know! I can imagine that bad eggs get colonized by bacteria that may produce tiny air bubbles as a result of...

Re: Simply try out another tank

Looks like you're finally getting lots of reproduction attempts! I would just leave the shrimp and the tank alone...no feeding, nothing. I'm pretty sure you'll have larvae and babies very soon! Put some snails in there too so they can munch on the cyanobacteria. :D thank you Mustafa :smt006 , i hee...

Re: I have coarse sand on bottom but don't see babies ever

 oh no. Sorry about the dead shrimp. They swim like panicking kinda swim? Maybe something is wrong with the water. You may need to reset your tank or change 50% - 80% of water depending on the cloudiness. This is my first time looking at this type of algae on your tank floor. About the dead shr...

Re: Over a dozen dead larvae; new heater to blame?

:? Omg shocking! Though I can't give any solution to this, my mind came to a few possibilities: 1) Heater faulty - I once got myself a cheap heater and it burst in my tank, everything dead inside. 2) Heater is not for stagnant water. - Still water in the tank was not circulating resulting only area ...

Re: New set up tank, see the picture

Hmmm...i usually not that patient lol Maybe for couple hours or i acclimate with 10 percents of my water tank every 5 minutes? That will do too  , I too am not a patient person lol. Observe the 1st shrimp you put in for weird behaviour like swimming off balance, stop paddling and fell on the ...

Re: New set up tank, see the picture

Hi thanks Mr T for the answer :) I just tested the salinity around 1.010-1.011. Im waiting for the macroalgae and not planning to have snails, i want to buy more shrimps, im under limited budget so i wish to buy more shrimps and a moss ball... Is it that important to have snails? You are welcome :D...

Re: First Molt

In a thread, I was recently reading about there is something called the "mating ritual dance" as the user called it. To what I know, this could be the increase in the shrimp's activity? (ahah, I could be totally wrong!) It happens after a female molts. The thread is called "Simply tr...

Re: New set up tank, see the picture

Hi Erlina_rusli, you can test your tank with snail first. I would add in the shrimp already if I were you BUT this is just me taking "the risk". You might want to wait for more assurance from others. If you decide to add them, Please make sure to test the salinity on the water that hold yo...

Re: I have coarse sand on bottom but don't see babies ever

Very good suggestion from i<30pae. TheBeach I'm thinking they are hiding inside. That is if you are not mistakenly the berried really happened. Switch off all the light. Switch on a touch-light , place it at the opposite end of your tank, while you view through, concerntrate on any tiny moving thing...
