It’s a 30x and 60x magnifier. The pic is at 60x.

Re: Tank cleaning?

If it’s consistently year round, I wouldn’t get a heater. My 3 gal I have a small heater. My house gets to the low 50s during the winter.

Re: Breeding issue

My 1 gal took over a year for breeding to happen. It also depends on temperature of the tank and food source.

Re: How Often To Feed Snails During Cycle?

When I started my tank, I don’t think I fed them. Once the tank cycled I ordered the shrimps. The snails for the most part stayed under the gravel and came out rarely.

Re: New Tank Setup, Please Review

I made two tanks 3 years ago. A 1 gal with 10 shrimps and a 3 gal with 20 shrimps. Both tanks took a little while to reproduce cause of the smaller number. The 1 gal now has around 30 to 40 with most of the new babies hiding in the algae ball. The 3 gal you can see from my other post. It exploded re...

Babies! Lots and lots of babies!

Had a recent influx of pregnancies last year and most hatched. Tons of new juvies and now here we are with even more pregnancies and babies that hatched. My 3 gallon tank is 3 years old. And yes my house gets pretty cold even in SoCal so I did buy a heater. It’s usually mid to low 70s in the tank.

Re: In need of help

Was your tank cycled before you added them in? That egg shell is pretty big but I don’t know if that mattered. Open your jar. A container that small has no room for error. As for feeding, all I do is take one tiny fish pellet and crush it to dust and sprinkle on top. If your tank isn’t cycled, it pr...

Update on 1 gal Tank at Work

Update to my 1 gal tank. Been a little over 2 years now. Tank has been doing really well. Recently the reproduction rate has been going thru the roof. Had 4 separate occasions within 6 weeks with berries shrimps and now a 5th! Originally started with 10 shrimps and it sorta stabilized with 30 ish. N...

Re: Minimum aquarium size for breeding Opae Ula

I have a 1 gal at work and a 3 gal at home. The 1 gal I started with 10. So far there’s been 4 times where they berried. Of course not all survived or they were dropped but I can say that I have around 30 to 40 in that one. For the 3 gal at home I started with 21 and now it’s like around 50. You don...

Re: 18-yr Ecosphere Shrimp Now Free! Hope I’m doing this right.

Wow! That little dude survived a long time! Lol. But as for your setup, you can add more if you like but just make sure you rinse out whatever you’re going to put in. If they’re molting, that’s a good sign that everything is going well and they’re happy. Yes any disturbance will turn them pale for a...

Re: Heater

So I got my heater yesterday. I rinsed it to clean it and put it in the tank to get acclimated. Then this morning I turned on the heater. After about 20 mins, most of the shrimps swam around it I guess cause it was warming up. Went out to eat and what not and by the time I came back the tank was up ...

Damn! That’s crazy! How long have you had your tank for it to reach this point? I have mine for 2 years now and I think I’m at around 60 from the original 21.
