I’ve been creating a new tank for my friend and in the last week have noticed a dark Kelly Green algae growing everywhere. Is this dust algae? I had it near a plant with a grow light so I’ve turned that lamp off but it’s still spreading.

My snails are reproducing like crazy as well! I'm starting to get worried b/c I only have a half gallon tank and the 5 I put in it are at least 25 in less than 1 year :( That being said, my shrimp are reproducing a bunch lately too, so I guess I just had a bunch of great algae in the half gallon ...

Very cool! Momma #1 still has all her eggs and tonight I have a 2nd berried shrimp! It’s a regular maternity ward in my tank now!

My snails arrived but I’m worried that if I add them to my tank the momma shrimp might drop her eggs. I put them in my cycling tank instead. When will it be safe for me to add some to the tank with the berries shrimp?

I noticed the momma is doing something weird with the eggs that makes them move a lot. I’m wondering if I’m actually watching her squeezing them out??

Congrats! I just got my first berried shrimp after 2 years and I hope she holds on to her eggs! How long did it take after you noticed your berried shrimp before the larvae hatched?

Hmmm, I have mine near a window so it gets indirect sunlight all day. I don’t have a light over it, but I do turn on the ceiling lights in the room at night. I find it so frustrating to not know exactly what went wrong ya know? Thank you for your input though.

Should I remove it if it’s dead? I have left it in to see if it would rebound, but I’m worried that decomposing plant life is bad for my tank, right?
