Re: Washing aragonite sand

I know that this is an old post (sorry, I'm looking through the whole forum!!), but to wash my sand, I poked holes in the bag with a pin and filled it over my sink. The water was milky and it took a very long time, but it started to come out clear. After I placed it in my tank, it took three or four...

Re: so im raisng in regular seawater

I got into Opae Ulas because I was researching keeping dwarf seahorses. I've heard of opae ulas being sold as seahorse food, I don't know that housing them together would be optimal. This got me to thinking, iodine helps shrimp with molting. This is an interesting hypothesis... However, I wonder if...

Re: New SuperShrimp Fan!

Took longer than expected but the babies finally started coming out... And managed to snag a shot of the zoea larva still hanging onto their mother. Also.. over the last month more of the females have become fertilized and I'm pretty sure of the 20 I started with 5 females are berried and three of ...

Re: The Opae Ula Palace

Disaster strikes! The coral glue I used to secure the piece to the back wall has failed. With only 2 weeks remaining until I was going to order my shrimp this happens... I have completely taken the tank apart, cleaned it, and re-secured the back wall to the glass with a massive amount of GE Silicon...

Re: Why are Supershrimp not more widely produced?

More people will see the "light" soon! :) I will actually start doing some advertising for the first time ever. I'm just worried that it will encourage some more unscrupulous individuals who happen to live where these shrimp naturally occur to go out there and basically poach them and sel...

Re: Finally, i got very deep red ones!

and mostly sellers sent me the white or pink ones not the deep red ones. Just looking at the pictures of your new shrimp I can immediately tell that you received wild-caught ones that just a few days or weeks ago were in some anchialine pool on Hawaii and then *most likely* were illegally removed T...

Re: My Nano Tank Set Up Success Story

Also, I'm in the process of cycling a new tank. It is identical to my original tank except it is twice the size. I will be going from 3/4 gallon to 1.5 gallon. This time I'm using aragonite sand instead of crushed coral. I also added a black lava rock and some shells. I added one cup of water from ...

Re: Tank died

Also these shrimp don't like the tannins and other organics leaching out of leaves and causing bacteria blooms. I've tried it in the past...every time my shrimp felt miserable, stopped reproducing and just sat there "moping." Some even died. By the way, how's your dwarf hairgrass (Eleocha...

All the information provided along with this board that had years of testimony vs. people selling them that could care less about where the shrimp were coming from. Also so much detail about how to set up the environment. He could have let us wing it to up the chances of resale - in my book, that's...

Re: Is it ready?

Removing the java and marimo is a good idea. I waited until I observed green algae signs on my tank walls then I ordered the chaeto and 30 brackish snails from Mustafa. I released everything into the tank and checked water parameters in the tank once a month and when my ammonia, nitrites, and nitra...
