Re: Consolidation of 4 tanks into 1!
Thank you! I had a hard time choosing between the 4 gallon orb and the 4 gallon rectangular. I went with the rectangular in the end as my other 2.5 tank is a glass sphere IMG_5457.jpg (meant to be for terrariums). Yes, you do get quite a magnification from the sphere shaped tank. I like that about t...

Re: Ideal Tank Balance
Thanks mike.d. Watched the video. Luckily I've never had hair algae in any of my tanks. Wonder what conditions encourage that? Also, even though all of my tanks (now consolidated into two "larger" tanks) I don't think I've ever had MTS reproduce. The shrimp do, but the snails don't. Would ...

Ideal Tank Balance
Just got my order of more moss balls, more snails and some fresh Macroalgae from Mustafa today! Since I've consolidated the smaller tanks into just two bigger tanks wanted to refresh the tanks helpers. Assuming that the water salinity and health is good (no decaying organic material, ammonia) Can so...

Consolidation of 4 tanks into 1!
I have a number of shrimp tanks but the one that always looks like it's flourishing the most is a 2.5 gallon tank that is away from sunlight and has a good quality LED source. I almost always have berried shrimp. I don't see visible algae so I feed some tiny shrimp ball pellets once a month. I figur...

Re: Help please! Ammonia at 8ppm and shrimp due tomorrow!
I was using the liquid test kit. Given how much ammonia was in that tank I can certainly attest to their hardiness! For the tank that tested 1ppm do you think there's any harm in putting a little Prime in just to cover my bases?
Cheers

Re: Help please! Ammonia at 8ppm and shrimp due tomorrow!
Thanks for the speedy reply Mustafa from this newbie shrimp girl. So tank 1 (that tested at 8ppm...actually past that, it started to turn deep blue) I added the "liberated" 4 shrimp to 9 days ago. Before I put them in, they were active, rosy red, normal looking. From then to now they stead...

Help please! Ammonia at 8ppm and shrimp due tomorrow!
Hi all, I have several smallish (biggest is 2.5 gallons, smallest is just under a gallon) tanks that I have been cycling for 8 to 10 weeks in preparation for my order of shrimp. The tank in question has LOT'S of growth of what I thought to be algae...brown and on the tank sides, shells, etc. It has ...

How many shrimp to add to a cycled tank with heavy algae growth
I have several tanks that I have been cycling for 10 weeks in preparation for shrimp. I bought snails and algae from Mustafa to help the cycling. I am now ready to place my shrimp order and have to pick out a number for each tank. My smallest tank is a bit over 1/2 gallon and my largest is 2.5. My 3...

Aquarium safe rocks?
Hi all, I'm in the process of setting up my first tanks. I have one that I bought from a craft show and I love it so much I'm making more. I have some beautiful stones that I collected from a beach in CA (Cambria) and I also have some other natural stones (some have a beautiful aqua color) that I ha...

Sustainably sourced natural decorations vs. fake
Hi all, A few weeks ago I went to a craft show and found the world of Opae Ula shrimps. I feel instantly in love with these beautiful little underworld landscapes that are alive with these delicate little creatures. I'm extremely avid gardener and enjoy making beautiful landscapes on a large scale a...
