Re: 3 Years - No Berried Shrimp - Any Suggestions?

i just thought the macroalgae would give them places to hide and more surfaces for biofilm to grow on. Mine love to graze on and in the macro.

Re: 3 Years - No Berried Shrimp - Any Suggestions?

I think adding some macroalgae would do the trick. My one gallon started with 16 and I now have at least 60 shrimp with females still getting berried. I do give them very small amounts of spirulina powder every so often. Like every 2 weeks. Only a few of the larger ones ever get fully red. Most stay...

I'm pretty sure that if she got in there, she can get back out.

Re: 4 gallon Bio Orb Crystal Looking Ball

I was actually able to watch one of mine releasing her young. They twitched and broke free, sunk for just a few seconds and then started moving upwards.

Re: Too much Ammonia?

I'm not saying you should add the shrimp but I will say this. If you are using the API liquid test kit, the color of the water will never be as yellow as what is on the color strip. All my tanks always show a very slight green tinge to the yellow. Fresh water and the brackish. At a pH of 8.0, all of...

Definitely a molt . They back out of the shell through a break just back of the head.

I had a couple that were striped but they didn't stay like that. If you could get a strain that bred true it would be cool.

Re: Moss ball update

My mother moss ball has a growth on it now. I think I will give it a clip and see how it goes. Thanks for the idea. Considering there is no noticeable movement in their water it is amazing how much they get around! The shrimp picking at them might do it or if you have snails. their burrowing under ...

Re: Heater recs please!

@Dch48 You don't feel that there's too much protein in the Omega One pellets? Salmon, herring, & shrimp are some of the main ingredients . Especially in tanks without filtration? I know shrimp overall are scavengers. Not if you only feed a very small piece. I actually have never given any to my...

Re: Confirming Opae Ula shrimp tank created correctly and also temperature for shipments

It looks good but I will say one thing. If the lid makes the system airtight and is going to be left on, then 25% of the volume should be air space. This is the advice of those who create sealed ecosystems. You need to allow for sufficient gas exchange between the water and air. If you are going to ...

Without being snarky, the answer would be when they feel like it. I got lucky and mine started within 4 months but some people have waited a year or more.
