Re: How long do floaters float?
I hope they are hiding. I’d be so happy!
Now it’s time for me to pray my other babies will be ok.
Dch48, thanks for taking the time to respond to my posts!

Re: How long do floaters float?
Awesome info! I just checked my salinity with a refractometer, and it’s 1.010. I did top off my tank a day or so before I saw them floating. It was 4 total. And, they were hanging out exclusively where I added fresh RO water. There’s virtually no water movement. I wonder if that was it? So, I killed...

Re: How long do floaters float?
I bet I lost them
I hope everything with my tank is ok. I have 7 shrimp total and 4 are berried, so I assumed all was good.
I hope my other babies will make it.
Thank you for the reply! I really appreciate it.

How long do floaters float?
I had my first floaters a few days ago! Man, I love those little babes! But, after 2 days they’ve disappeared
Do floaters float for more than a few days? Or, did they just not make it?

Re: Absolute beginner - Some concerns
I’m so excited for you! This is such a fun journey! My tank is 5 months old, but I remember how excited I was to get my SCRUMPS! After killing 24 of my 31 scrumps  cleaning biofilm with a white paper towel.....I now have 2 berried mommies! I rinsed my tank, substrate, crushed coral, and all dec...

Re: Lost 1/3 of my Opae overnight
Out of the 31 original shrimp, I went down to 7 in one day. I did 1/4 water changes every other day 4 times, and then left them alone. Their color rebounded very, very slowly, and 1 or 2 are still pretty light. However, today I checked on them and I have a berried female!! So, happy they are h...

Re: Lost 1/3 of my Opae overnight
I’m glad yours are all doing good!! Thank you for your feedback! Mine seem to change color too, and I have 2 that basically stay clear. I guess that’s normal.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the replies.
I don’t know what happened. But, I did something wrong. It’s a learning process. Too bad those little babes had to suffer. I think
Question: Should all my shrimp be red? Some are so pale. Is that a sign something is off?
Thanks!

Lost 1/3 of my Opae overnight
Last night I lost 20 shrimp  Yesterday evening I noticed the surface of the water was covered in green algae. I thought, “I should get that off so the light can penetrate to the bottom of the tank!” So, I used several paper towels to get it off. If I could go back in time, and not be stupid. I ...

Re: Starting the opae journey!
:smt006 Welcome MrsDebLo! I hope having the Mustafa mossball and algae hastens the cycling. I ended up waiting 6 weeks for my tank to cycle. 5 gallons is a decent size tank. How many shrimp are you planning on starting with? Are you getting snails? Hi! :smt006 I just added 30 shrimp. They seems hap...

Re: Starting the opae journey!
Hi Everyone! I started my tank 6 weeks ago. After 1 week I added Mustafa’s moss and algae balls. At 4 weeks I added 10 snails. And today I added 30 “scrumps” (that’s what I call them). They seem happy, and busy. I hope they are doing well. They were really pale, but I can already see some color comi...

Re: Starting the opae journey!
The wait is definitely tough. I'm still waiting for my cycle to finish. I still have Nitrites but the Ammonia is gone so it should finish soon. There is some brown algae and the macro algae sometimes pearls and floats. It's been somewhere between 3 weeks and a month since the brackish water went in...
