Thanks to everyone for insightful comments. I ended up using the new toothbrush to clean the algae. Thanks for the suggestions and advising that there’s nothing wrong with algae (that once they go to the bottom, will just get eaten up; also that it’s a sign of cycling!)
Thanks to everyone again!

Re: Setup suggestions needed for newbie
Thanks Sliphorn.
Does any one know if the algae would get clean/eaten up by the shrimp eventually? (While away from sunlight to slow the algae growth?)
These (in pic) are GREEN algae (not brown) right?

Re: Setup suggestions needed for newbie
Hey Super Jess! Thanks for your help again! I’m actually not feeding them much at all. Maybe every 2 weeks at most, mostly once per month. And I remove the leftover food. Not really sure how it got to this algae stage, the tank now looks completely differently from when started—clear. Here are some ...

Re: Minimum aquarium size for breeding Opae Ula
I have a half gallon tank with 16 shrimp. I haven't seen any breeding yet, but I did move from New York to Michigan with them in the car about 6 months ago. They are super red and seem pretty happy, so I'm hoping I will see some breeding this year. I've attached a photo. I'm considering adding an a...

Re: Setup suggestions needed for newbie
Does anybody have comments on how to control the algae? The water is not as clean as before. I keep the tank under low natural light. There are 10 shrimp and about 10 snail (plus baby snails). Size of container is about 1.4 gallon.

Re: Setup suggestions needed for newbie
Thanks for the info.
May I ask where did you buy the horned nerite snails? Are they self-maintenance (lifespan and breeding), what’s the size?
Thanks!

Re: Setup suggestions needed for newbie
How do we know whether algae are green vs brown? I was wondering any suggestions how to lower down the algae growing on the surface of the glass jar? should I use some of those magnet algae scrubber? remove the algae manually (e.g. using a straw)? or other method? (I have about 10 snails (plus babie...

Thank you everyone for the comments! I placed the sea fan in so far. The shrimp seem to like it! I will place the Gorgonia/branch inside soon. So far, all 10 shrimp and ~10 snails (plus some baby snails) seems fine. I got some seashells and rocks rom the beaches, that might have eventually helped with the alga...

Re: Setup suggestions needed for newbie
Thank you everyone for the helpful comments! The snails are now in their new tank and seem happy :D . Thank you! Any recommendations for brackish plants (that I can buy somewhere—kind of don’t want to pay for petshrimp’s shipping fee at this moment.) Any tips and what I can add would be great! Thank...
