How to best introduce new brackish snails to my shrimp bowl…
I couldn’t find any specific instructions to putting my new snails in my established tank. Do I a) pour a little tank water into the plastic bag bit by bit, b) put one snail in and wait to see if he survives, or c) let the bag float in the bowl for a few hours before dumping them all in?

Re: My water looks dirty and my microalgae is dying HELP!
Yep, I pulled out all the browning algae, so now there’s a small greenish bush left. The water is clearing up, especially now that there are new babies feeding. There are at least 10 shrimp in the bowl. I might consider buying a new algae bush if this one doesn’t perk up. Snails are a maybe (how exp...

Four tiny shrimp spotted
I removed the browner parts of the algae and the water looks a bit clearer, not much though. In the sunlight, I was able to spot 4 teeny-tiny shrimp smaller than a grain of rice that look as clear as glass. Are these young shrimp or dying shrimp? image.jpg I just looked it up, and these are apparent...

My water looks dirty and my microalgae is dying HELP!
I have had this shrimp tank for two years. It started with one gallon fishbowl, one micro algae plant, a few red lava rocks, and 10 supershrimp. I have at least 5 shrimp left, and the algae is turning brown, the water is getting cloudy. How do I balance out the ecosystem and make my shrimp healthy a...

Re: Adding a Dwarf Zebra Hermit Crab (Yay or Nay?)
Other (more experienced aquarists) have said they have shrimps that coexist with nerite snails and/or dwarf hermit crabs. I got curious as to how they do it.

Re: HELP! My shrimp are disappearing!
 I know that now. My friend decided to “help” by breaking the lava rock into smaller pieces, so now they have a stone to hide in instead of the brick they had before (at least the bowl is a tad lighter). I’m leaving them alone. I’m planning on feeding them once every fortnight (the shrimp food...

Adding a Dwarf Zebra Hermit Crab (Yay or Nay?)
I'm considering getting one Hawaiian dwarf hermit crab for my half-gallon shrimp bowl. Supposedly, the crab and the shrimp are native to the same waters and the crab is unlikely to feed on or fight the shrimp. Water Conditions for the crab 72-78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, sg 1.023-1.025 I know the sh...

Re: HELP! My shrimp are disappearing!
FALSE ALARM!!!! I found the missing seven, and the are NOT DEAD! They found a way to burrow under that giant lava rock in the middle (I removed the rock, and they were all like "THE SUN! IT BURNS!") But I am still concerned with how they're practically glued to the black sand. I'm ...

HELP! My shrimp are disappearing!
Yesterday, my ten super shrimp arrived completely fine. I put their bag in my aquarium and let it float for several hours so they'd get accustomed to the water. Then I released them, and they seemed fine, swimming around and exploring the tank. By noon the next day, I can see only three in the water...
