Re: My Opae Ula are dying for an unknown reason
Go for it! The macro algae will be a big help to balancing out your tank. I used that castle I picked up from petsmart as a cave as the lower half is hollow. Then stacked my lava rocks around it. It’s really small but the round glass magnifies everything. The opae will probably lose their color for ...

Re: My Opae Ula are dying for an unknown reason
Nope just fish tank decorations. Got some opae from Petshrimp and off of a seller on eBay.

Re: My Opae Ula are dying for an unknown reason
I don’t ever clean it. Between the snails and the shrimps they keep it clean. I still feed them every week a teeny tiny amount of spiralina powder. I have the Malaysian Trumpet Snails and so far they haven’t been a problem. I do see a bunch of babies growing and I like to watch them too. The algae s...

Re: My Opae Ula are dying for an unknown reason
I’d leave it in the tank. The babies may hatch? If not they will become food for the algae and other things in the tank.
Here is a picture of my tank. I’d strongly recommend you get rid of the sea fan.

Re: Our Petshrimp Project
I wouldn’t change the water it will clear up on its own. Also water can get cloudy after you add new shrimp, snails and water from other tanks. It will usually go away after a week or two. The fish flakes are not the best food. Use spiralina powder. A tiny amount about 1/3 of a grain of rice. Once e...

Re: My Opae Ula are dying for an unknown reason
I would still remove the sea fan. Without any algae or anything growing in your tank it’s likely breaking down and polluting your water. I bought one when I first started my tank and didn’t have a lot of algae and I lost two shrimps. So I removed mine and instead bought a small fish tank castle and ...

Re: My Opae Ula are dying for an unknown reason
I would suggest removing the sea fan and getting some macro algae. I’m not seeing any lava rocks in your tank either. Stress, toxins or lack of food could be the cause. Examine the ones that are dying and the ones still living to see if they are getting enough food. If you can’t see a black spot ind...

Re: Tiny white creature in tank
Do they attack the baby shrimp? And if they do is there anyway to get rid of them?

Re: How to seed tank with algae?
I purchased Shrimp from Mustafa and from a member who sells on eBay. I just dumped the shrimp and tank water into my jar and made sure there was good light and now after several months I have green patches forming on my rocks. Not sure if you are in the US but you could see if anyone here would be w...

Re: How to seed tank with algae?
You would need to get water from that person’s tank and add it to your tank. My tank has been setup now for about 5 months and I am now getting that green algae on my rocks in spots. Hoping it will continue to grow as it does look cool. I do feed a tiny drop of the spirulina to my tank every week as...

Re: Any concerns on inbreeding?
So if I plan on breeding them I should make sure and get a large enough quantity Since they won’t breed if they are not from the same island? Where do Mustafa’s shrimp originate from? Anyone know by chance?

Re: Tank recommendations
I’m going to check them out. My only concern is that I have cats and rambunctious teenagers who like to throw squishy stress balls so it will need a Strong lid to protect them from any harm. The cats thankfully don’t seem interested in the jar I have now but not sure what they would do to a larger t...

Re: Any concerns on inbreeding?
Would any small hobby shrimp owners be interested in tradIng, selling or swapping some of their pets in order to promote a more genetic diversity?

Any concerns on inbreeding?
I’m kinda curious and wonder if anyone knows if there are issues with inbreeding of these shrimps? I have bought some shrimps from another seller and Mustafa as I’d like some genetic diversity in my tank and would like to maybe experiment and see if I can get some different genetic traits to develop...

Tank recommendations
Hi All, I have a 1 gallon glass jar that I rigged with a biorb light. I fell in love with these little shrimps and am looking for a larger tank. I kinda want to stay 10 gallons or smaller and have been interested in the biorb cube tanks because I like the Biorb light and the tanks look stylish but a...
