From what I know tufa is basically limestone, so the water is just going to be a little harder I guess

I got some rocks a long time ago from a geothermal spring. They might be some kind of grey tufa. Are these safe for shrimp?

I really want to read a book about Hawaiian alkaline pools. Know any good ones?

Cool! You saved me from that mistake. I’ve never kept Opae Ula. Those were just a few animals I knew could live in the same conditions

Thanks! The person I’m getting shrimp from lives in my state. I’m sure I could pour in some water from his tank and get some algae

I have a ghost shrimp in my marine aquarium. I’m sure you could keep one of those with them. I saw a video we’re someone had a mussel in their Opae Ula tank. Alphas might also work.

It would be hard to get tank water, because the person that had this algae was in Europe! It would be a good idea to get some established tank water. Spirulina would be a good idea.

I’m wondering how I can seed my tank with algae. I saw a tank with a beautiful sort of dust of algae on the rocks. I’m wondering how I can seed my tank or promote this growth of algae.
