Re: snails & a few other newb inquiries
Congrats on saving the shrimp! For the light thing over the weekend; how about getting a mechanical light timer off amazon.com? That way the shrimp would have stable lightning. There's a cheap one for ~$9 ( linked it below if you want to look at it). Additionally, if you feel like you have too much ...

Re: Shrimp!
Really great looking tank! Thanks for sharing a photo. How many shrimp did you add to your tank? Any snails? 8) I ordered 20 shrimps, but I suspect the shipper added extra (I forgot to count them before putting them in lol). And yes! I absolutely love snails; there’s about 6 MTS, and even one super...

Re: Molt!
@attygirl: Thank you!!! And oh wow, that is a very long time! I’ve only had them in their tank for two days at the time of the photo
Maybe like dch48 they were eaten ASAP?
@dch48: Yeah it’s really neat! I went to go look at them like 6 hours later and they were both gone already haha

Re: Shrimp!
Thank you! And I ended up getting your advice about not using gravel from my freshwater tank AFTER I set up and decorated my tank for an hour (which I ended up changing away afterward lol). I didn't really wash the gravel since I was afraid of getting rid of beneficial bacteria, so I bought a sponge...

I thought these molts were super cool since they were still attached to the lava rock and together

I got shrimp recently! I’m very excited about them; they’re in a 2.5 gallon tank. I’ve also seen two molts!

How Many Shells is Too Many?
I was thinking about using pretty much solely seashells to decorate the tank and provide hiding spots, and I boiled them beforehand. I had been thinking about lava rocks but I can only find them in like bags of 5 pounds more which way too many rocks! But since I would be using a lot of seashells, wo...

Thanks for the reply sliphorn!
Thank you for the advice! I've seen the directions on how to start cycling a brand new tank, but wouldn't it be faster to use stuff from a established tank? Or are there shortcomings (and if so, what are they)?

Interested in keeping Opae Ula
Hello! I’ve heard about these shrimps recently and I’m super excited about getting some! I have a few questions though. 1. I have an established freshwater tank. I’m planning on taking everything (substrate, water, and putting an old filter in there for a bit) from there into a gallon or two new tan...
