Shrimp body deteriorating, lack of calcium?

My prawn (M. Rosenbergii) seems to be deteriorating. I've had it for almost 2 years now. I've also had the same setup routine for a long time and just recently this started happening: http://www.t-mobilepictures.com/photos/photo16/15/ca/dce2b1f88906.jpg Also the claws also started deteriorating real...

As long as your substrates and filter media (i.e. sponge) are mature, then it shouldn't be a problem. I use to have a 10g community tank with like 7 small fish and snails with a thin layer of gravel. I would scoop out about 750ml of water (one scroop using one of those juice containers with the top ...

You can always add a background, it will increase the visual depth of your tank significantly. Plus it can hide any equipment behind the tank.

Here's a picture of mine, I've had him since he was 2", now he's about 15" stretched out. Had him for about a year now.
I miss how they use to look when they're small, you can see the food in their stomach.

I have nothing else alive in that tank. I have not introduce anything in that tank besides the prawn since I got the tank. That's why I'm so curious. He's probably feeding off of algae, and maybe that's why my tank's so clean of it.

It's been about 5 months, since March. Maybe it is about time for him to molt.
Yeah, I use to feed him everything, from meat to vegetables to fish food to wafer, then he got picky and would only eat wafers, that was a few months ago.
But how would he poop constantly without an outside source of food?

Wavemakers produce random current in an aquarium. Everything from pump timers that turns powerhead on and off in 20-60 second intervals to rotating nozzle attachments, there are tons of different devices ranging from tens to thousands of dollars. But you can achieve the effect cheaply and efficientl...

Only the prawn, nothing else, not even much algae, I do 5 gallon water change once a week. Just gravel, fake plants, rocks, and a plastic log cave.

What has my shrimp been eating?

I have an adult 16"+ M. Rosenbergii. For weeks now he hasn't been eating the usual diet of algae wafers i've been throwing in, or anything i've tried to feed him. He usually goes nuts when i toss in food, now I would just net it back out. Yet, he has been pooping non-stop (like a large pleco). ...

I use to catch tons of wild crays, and just leave them in a bucket of tap water. All those white worms would die and fall off. If I just put the crawfish straight into a tank with already cycled, de-chorinated water, the worms would mutiply under the crawfish like crazy.

I had those before too. I'm not sure what they were exactly, but I did some research online, I found out that they're caused by over feeding (in my case anyway). Just drop a mollie or two in there, or a couple of guppies, they'll eat them up real quick.

If you're cooling the tank through water evaporation, you might want to use only reverse osmosis/deionized water to top off the tank. Otherwise if you're just using dechlorinated tap water to top it off, the metals in your tank will accumulate over time. Or another way is to do a water change eveyti...

There are plenty of DIY mirco chillers plans at Nano-reef.com. Here's a thread of a good one: http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89199&hl=diy+chiller It is a little more than just a computer fan and a heat sink. The chiller works off of a peltier. Here's a site explaining how a ...
