Re: Improving shrimp color
Shrimp from different islands have different colors and varying degrees of red. Could have to do with the coloration on yours or, because there are so many people keeping them now and so many collecting from different locations, the results of mixing could also have something to do with it. Here's a...

Re: Discovered A New Brackish Water Plant!
Been doing a bit of research and reading.... Found a link with an image from the Bahamas of Batophora oerstedi. Since that's the species of Batophora found close to the keys and since I Also found some "Acetabularia crenulata" in the same area, I'm going to guess that's what mine was. And ...

Re: Water Salinity level and Micro algae
Hi Jimmy, How long has your tank been set up? IF your Salinity rapidly jumped up, Id guess either, your hydrometer was stuck or you had undissolved salt somewhere? But sounds like a lot of water to remove to drop so little. check it a few more times. I keep mine at 1.010 to 1.014 at most... but just...

Re: Discovered A New Brackish Water Plant!
Since more than one person said they die back and can regrow, I searched the container I had them in and there are Several small orange dots around the container. I tried to get pics but they're FAR to tiny for my iPhone to focus on them. I tried but just have some blurry pics with brownish looking ...

Algae covering Everything! Even other Algae
Hey... So, I have gotten a type of algae that is covering everything in my tanks. I have no idea how to control it. It's like a web that just seems to smother other types of algae. A shame too as it's covering even my Chaeto algae as well as a Halimeda and others! Some things I find say to leave the...

Re: New Algae Found for my Shrimp
Sorry... I haven't been back here in a while! The algae did well for quite a while but eventually got overtaken by chaeto and then eaten by snails. It is Ulva intestinalis and I have since added it to other containers I have my Opae ula in. The SG is typically about 1.010-1.013. I have found the U. ...

Re: Discovered A New Brackish Water Plant!
Hello, I Know this is an old thread but seems to keep getting reDiscovered. I found a tiny plant on a trip to Key West (I'm always looking for new plants for my Opae Ula "containers") and thought what I had found was a few tiny pieces of Caulerpa racemosa. It was actually tangled in a piec...

Re: My success story
I bing read this whole thread. It feels like I'm waiting on the next season that's been canceled. It's really been almost 2 years since tooth's trip to Mongolia with his wife. I wonder how they are and if the tank ever recovered from the issue it was having... dang LMAO I know what you mean! I just...

New Algae Found for my Shrimp
I got my shrimp a little over a week ago (the 10th)and wanted some Algae for it. Right now they're just in a little jar but I plan on moving them to larger container real soon. On the 12th I went down to Tampa bay and found an area that looked brackish, based on the plants growing along the shore an...
