Re: Does this look like hair algae?

I have this same stuff in my tank! Did you end up getting it to die or remove it? If so how? I cut the lighting in my tank & stopped feeding and it helped only a little bit. (I know this is a year later lol but I was searching keywords and stumbled across this post) thanks!!

Re: White stringy algae?

Thanks! I’ve reduced the lighting duration but I will try experimenting with colors. I also haven’t been feeding the tank. I do think I will get some moss balls & replace the macroalgae but I’m worried about the babies getting stuck in there when I remove it! There are new tiny ones and they’re ...

White stringy algae?

Hello! So I have a ton of white stringy growth in my tank, and my macroalgae is turning yellow & white as well (see attached). That said, my shrimp & snails are otherwise thriving! Got some babies a couple months ago and they’re growing great! So I am not sure if these white algae (?) string...

Re: 1 dead shrimp & cloudy water :(

I am not sure if I should take out the two dead shrimpies in my tank - I’d like to avoid more casualties if the bodies are causing ammonia spikes, but I also don’t want to stress these fragile remaining guys out unnecessarily. They ate the first couple of dead ones shortly after they died but they h...

Re: 1 dead shrimp & cloudy water :(

Do you do a cycle of day and night with their lights? Also they have no place to hide. Some kind of cave or something they can go into. They might want to sleep in the dark or hide if they are molting or whooing. I got a light that does a bright light during day and then I turn on a blue light at n...

Re: Tiny white floating things?/feeding question

You’re overthinking it. What type of water did you use? RO or distilled. If you did it’s pure and more than likely void of any harmful pests. I can’t think of anyone that had harmful pests in their tanks due to the normal set up like PetShrimp advises. I do think I was overly anxious about normal t...

Re: 1 dead shrimp & cloudy water :(

So I did count more seemingly healthy shrimp (11-12) and I saw another molt. But today I noticed a little guy swimming very erratically - almost jumping like popcorn and landing on his back - I think if something is wrong, whatever it is might be affecting him - what does this type of swimming mean?

Re: Tiny white floating things?/feeding question

I think that YouTube video caters to FW tanks. I've never seen any of those survive or appear in brackish tanks. I even feed dragonfly nymphs to my Alpha Opae Ula and they don't survive in brackish. Then again they get eaten pretty quickly. Yeah I checked it out and didn’t think any of them matched...

Re: 1 dead shrimp & cloudy water :(

I also spotted this today (see pic)…is it some kind of worm?? Or just a weird shaped piece of substrate? 😅 it’s shiny and does not appear to be moving. If it’s a live organism, is it dangerous/what is it/what do I do??

Re: 1 dead shrimp & cloudy water :(
