Egg color and species ID

If two shrimp look exactly the same, except that one has green eggs and the other has whitish eggs, does that mean they belong to different species?

At first, I thought the color difference was due to different stages of egg development. But it's been over a week and the colors have not changed.

It depends on how strict your customs people are. Do they search every inch of your luggage? I find that airlines are far more strict with handcarried items than checked-in baggage. So what I usually do is find a small styropore box, put the shrimp (in bag, of course) in my check-in luggage. The sty...

Sorry, this was the best I could do. They don't look too different from yours, but they are more opportunistic as scavengers. The micropincers I spoke of are those teeny-weeny forks (more like toes, really) at the end of the forelegs, just barely visible in the first photo. Funny, I never noticed th...

Can you access the bio filter media in your Seaclear--meaning can you take it out and transfer the balls into another filter? When I set up a new tank, I usually put extra filter media in the existing tank. If they fit in the filter, well and good. If not, then I put them in a mesh bag and place the...

Pretty sure. Some of my amanos are nearly 2 inches long. When they reach that size, those micro-pincers aren't so micro any more. Last night, they polished off a harlequin rasbora and a juvenile cardinal tetra. To their credit, I've never seen them attack a fish, unless it was too weak to struggle. ...

My amanos survived despite two angelfishes and two dwarf gouramis. If anything, they became a little too successful. If any of my smaller fishes, like the cardinals and harlequin rasboras, got too dazed to swim properly, the amanos would quickly tow them and host a sushi buffet.

Having trouble with shrimp ID

First of all, I'm sorry that I have no pics to show, because my tank is a low-light set-up, and my camera has such bad shutter-lag that it's impossible to catch these creatures on camera. Secondly, I live in SE Asia...just so we can rule out certain species like the American glass shrimp. I bought t...
