I would choose something like an Aquaclear 50 or 70 with a sponge covering the intake. You can adjust the flow rate as needed. I have found that a sponge for a "Tetra Billi" fits great over the intake on an AC50. I don't even know what the heck a Tetra Billi is, but the replacement sponge...

Needs soft to medium hard, alkaline water over the long run. Should not be kept in acidic water at all.
they should be ok i assume.

i was going through the caridina varities and they mostly need soft acidic water to feel well and breed, problem is i have hard alkaline water so i dont wanna put them at risk since my cherries are in hard alkaline water, but id like to have a lil diversity. most my shrimp are under a 1/2" so it was hard too tel what was what. and they are to hard to count since they are so small

aight, well mine are white and look just like the pic above so im guessing they molted. they are a lil more timid if that helps determine.

hey great pics, i dont wanna steal your thread but i have a question that goes along with it.

How can you tell the difference between a dead shrimp n a molted skin? i have found a few like 2-3 different skins that look like the above photo all within 2 days. do u think they are molts or dead shrimp?

here on long island we have generally soft water, so my shrimp tank is soft and neutral to alkaline water that mean they wont breed?

i do water changes on all my tanks weekly. i ask because right now im holding my shimp in a small 2gal which we all know the smaller the tank the harder it is to control water quality. i just tested it an its at 10ppm.
