I'll post pictures of the new tiger fry asap. Getting decents shots in a 100L planted tank is not that easy and they are too small to join the other adult shrimps during feeding time.
The first pic of the berried tiger shows white through the body where it should be see-through. This is usually an indication of a sick or dying shrimp. That was not the case Shrimp&Snails. The tiger shrimp is doing very well and has given birth to other shrimplets recently. Maybe the back ligh...
It seems that I did not seperate the tiger shrims from the Crystal red shrimps in time. As a result of this it is now clear that the youngsters were infact hybrids. Hope you agree since some 'crs white' is visible. Is it possible that the Tiger shrimps cross bred with New bee shrimps ( also present ...
Thanks for your replies and your positive comments guys. The shrimplets are still very young (less than a month old) and around 5mm in length. This wasn't the first time that the female tiger shrimp was carrying eggs since I was able to see shrimplets that look like miniature tiger shrimps. These sh...
I have removed my Tiger shrimps to avoid hybridization with Crs. They are now being kept in a 100l aquarium together with Cherry shrimp and Red tail shrimp. Hope the latter do not hybridize with the Tiger shrimp! The female tiger shrimp gave birth to some cute little shrimplets. Do these youngsters ...
Yes guys you are absoultely right. Interbreeding the 2 species of shrimps has never been my goal. I will setup 3 new tanks of approxiamtely 80 litres each to house the different species of shrimps and maybe my best grades of crs. This is the first time the female tiger was carrying eggs. I can't be ...
Hi zapisto, My tiger shrimp had been carrying eggs for over 25 days (the temperature in the tank is set at 23C) so I was eager to see the young after she released the eggs. I was getting frustrated, as I was not able to see any youngsters in my tank!! But after hours of staring I saw a youngster dar...
Had to share.. Macrobrachium assamense young are very small and not easy to spot especially on a lightly coloured bottom. I really hope that the eggs did hatch! Here ase some pictues showing how difficult it is to actually spot the young. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e376/reubenvella/find21.jpg http://i43.pho...
Thanks jason. No there aren't any tank mates in the 100 litre tank. But I keep some other Macrobrachium Red claw (about 7) in a 200 litre planted tank. The shrimps are kept together with corydoras, discus, siamese algae eaters and a yoyo loach. No trouble so far. Macrobrachium in the 200 litre tank ...
Soon after I bought my first crs a femle was carrying eggs. She molted while carrying the eggs and all the eggs were lost as they were discarded together with the exoskeleton. this never happened again.
I keep my macrobrachium red claw in a 100 litre weel planted tank. At the moment there are two males together with 9 females. I have had no territrial disputes so far. The shrimps only show some agressive behaviour during feeding time. good luck with your shrimps! My 100l tank http://i43.photobucket...
