Re: Selective breeding Malawa Sulawesi Shrimp
SPECULATION: I would speculate that a given shrimp's color is likely a composition of many different pigments. In addition to my lazy observations my understanding was that the demonstration of these various pigments were strongly influenced by a variety of environmental and physiological factors. ...

Re: Leeches In My Snail Tank
Can you get a picture of the leeches?
I have a benign species of leech in my tank with my shrimp, but they are only interested in the tubifex worms that are in the substrate.
Id like to see these dangerous leeches additionally identification may help removal strategies.

Re: Move plant from medicated tank to Cherry Shrimp tank?
If the sole purpose is to provide the shrimp with feeding surfaces and cover you could just find some rocks or any other object, the more porous the better, and add them to the tank (Obviously avoid rocks or objects that will leech harmful substances to your shrimp).

Great pictures!...
(Feeling compelled to comment in that sense.)
Often I just sit in front of my tanks with a magnifying glass. I'm always jealous of pictures that surpass this experience.

Re: Rarely feed shrimp?
Regardless though if you dont mind smaller shrimp its kindof cool having this mini ecosystem I just bring the light and the water... Do you have a filter? Well in this particular tank I rely on heavy rock scape and a pump to do the filtration for me... so no carbon pads or ammonia pads bio-wheels o...

Re: I found this in my Cherry tank
Does it move? -Lisa If its a leech like the type I had it moves like this: ...its 'hind' end is the wider end and it clings onto some surface, it will then stretch out and with its narrower 'end,' which I think is its mouth, and this mouth will attach onto a new surface. The hind end then releases ...

Re: I found this in my Cherry tank
Looks similar to the type of leeches that I added to one of my shrimp tanks on purpose... The ones I had appeared to have no interest in any of the snails (MTS and Ramshorn) or any of the shrimp (Cherry and Malawa)...they only seemed to feed on the live Tubifex worms that lived in the substrate of m...

Re: Rarely feed shrimp?
Well Ive never really been into proactively feeding my shrimp given what their natural diet is...rather I prefer keeping the tank, or establishing certain tank characteristics, in such a way that their natural food is as productive as it can be in the given water volume. Additionally unplanted tanks...

Re: What shrimp can be kept with cherry shrimp?
This is an issue that I had occur. I did not really post much about it before because I didnt really have anything empirical to add...more of an anecdotal conclusion. I purchased some Malawa shrimp to add to my Cherry Shrimp/invert tank. Water volume 75 gallons pH approximately 7.0-7.4 Substrate cla...

Re: Freshwater species of sponges?
How did you get your sponges?
From the "field"?
From gemmules?
From other aqua cultured sources?
Before their demise and the addition of the fish was there any indication of growth?
