I'm on the big island of Hawaii right now and have found some very interesting shrimp living in brackish ponds. They are mostly transparent with some black and white markings. Perfect camo for the lava and coral sand substrate here. The largest I have seen are about 2 inches long. Does anybody know...

Are you sure you have flat worms 0_o. It sounds like you have planaria and some harmless nematodes feeding off excess food/nutrients. Flatworms are salt water creatures. I had some but just managed to breed them once. youngs tend to be more pale and brownish, even kinda transparent. The adults seem to take different colors from reddish to bluish like in the photo.
