Re: Shrimp ID?
Hi! Are they still too young to ID? Personally, I think they're starting to look a lot like Macrobrachium faustinum. I hope I'm wrong, since they require saltwater/brackish water. :( Yes, it is not possible to determine them without any doubts because the male is not jet fully developed. But I can t...

Re: Identification
Hi Janssen!
Im am sorry but I am not able to answer this question because I never used any absorbend/ion exchange filter substrate in one of my shrimp tanks. On my opinion water exchanges are best for water quality!
Cheers

Re: Identification
Hi Janssen! Theese shrimp couldn´t be identified on basis of a foto. Probably the shrimp on 3rd and 1st photo belong to C. weberi but also can be C.typus. The larger one on pic 2 is either a member of genus Atyopsis (moluccensis or spinipes) or belong to the genus Atyoida. If you can send us on ort ...

Re: New Shrimp but stuck on I.D.
Hi Mustafa! Because, as far as I know, that revision has not been confirmed yet by any other scientist. Or has it? Please, correct me if I am wrong. Has there been another scientific paper actually using the name "C. multidentata" in the meantime? The name C. multidentata was just used in ...

Re: Descriptions of four new species of Caridina from China
Hi! Anyone who have access to the full text? Shure ;-) Has the Bee Shrimp been described as two different species? Not really what we (in Europe) called bee shrimp. The paper is dealing with species known as "Bumblebee shrimp" or "new bee II" in the aquarium trade. This shrimp ar...

Re: Help ID these 2 Shrimp
Hi Mustafa! What makes you think that it's in the M. pilimanus group? It's hard to say one way or another from the pictures above, but all the shrimp that I have encountered (various imports from Thailand, Burma, Vietnam etc.) from the M. pilimanus group looked almost identical to the "Fuzzy Cl...

Re: Help ID these 2 Shrimp
Hi all! These are usually imported as "Chameleon Shrimp" and are a Macrobrachium species. The one with the fuzz is the male. They are from Southern Asia. They reproduce through saltwater larvae. I think the species pictured is not related to "true" Chameleon Shrimp (M. lanatum or...

Hi Mustafa! So, let's all be responsible. We need to establish captive populations of these shrimp (and others). Let's all be honest to ourselves and evaluate if we really have enough experience with shrimp to tackle the job. It won't hurt to wait a little until captive-bred shrimp are offered for s...
