Re: Any idea why my Yamatos died?

Before that, I tested for ammonium/ammonia and also copper. Both tested negative. Not sure what this means. Do you mean that they registered 0ppm? Nitrite & Nitrate is also at a safe level. What were the values? For shrimp, the only safe nitrIte level is 0ppm. Less than 24 hours later, all the ...

Any idea why my Yamatos died?

Hello all. I've just started a new 4 foot planted tank. It's been running for almost 2 weeks now. Yesterday, I added 5 Yamato shrimps. Before that, I tested for ammonium/ammonia and also copper. Both tested negative. My PH is about 6.8 - 7 and KH is about 4. Nitrite & Nitrate is also at a safe l...

Hi...just saw this on a website somewhere.

"Keep your Shrimp Healthy! Dose with Iodine once a month!"

So...is this good or not?

Tks.

I would not keep clown loaches with shrimp or snails -- they are food! If the shrimps are trying to escape -- they are trying to escape from the loaches. Really? I thought they only went for the snails... Will try a new batch of shrimps without the loaches and see if that fixes things. Thanks Pisce...

Yamato shrimps disappear?

I have about 10 Yamato shrimps in my tank. Over a period of 2 weeks, they have been going missing one by one. Now there's only left 1 or 2. Where has the rest gone? I can't even find the bodies. Thinking they must have crawled out of the tank, I look around the surrounding area but don't find any dr...

Hiding place a must?

Hi. Just wondering if it's a MUST to provide a hiding place for shrimps...especially for when they molt. My tank is full of plants but no proper hiding place. This morning I found a dead Yamato which was in the process of molting. Wondering if the other fishes attacked it whilst it was doing its thi...

Yes...it's a possibility. The blue ones are slightly bigger than the non blue ones.

Curious...why is my blue shrimp not blue?

Added about 5 blue shrimps to my aquarium recently. Whilst 1 or 2 of them is really totally blue, the rest are just transparent with slight hint of blue.

Just wondering what causes the blue effect and is something wrong that my blue shrimps are not blue at all?

Thanks!

Does adding black water help?

I've just put in a few red cherry, tiger & blue shrimps into my tank. A friend who also keeps these shrimps has asked me to add black water to my tank and says that this will keep the mortality rate down. I already have a few Yamato shrimps in there. I'm wondering if this is true. I don't like t...

Can clown loaches & Amano shrimps co-exist?

I have two clown loaches to keep the snails away in my planted tank. But was told that they will actually attack the shrimps as well.

Should I remove the clown loaches before I start putting Amano shrimps in the tank?

Thanks!

As I said before, the problem is that something is leaking into your water from the tank itself. Changing the water won't solve the problem since whater is leaking into the water will do the same thing in the new water. Mustafa Hello Mustafa. Well...sad to say, nothing I've tried so far has solved ...

Well...unfortunately, bringing the temp down did not solve my problem of the Yamato shrimps dying. It always happens just after 24 hours of being in the tank. When the shrimp is alright, it is transparent looking. When it has problem and about to die, I notice it turns whitish inside it's shell. The...

I doubt that the loss of color in your fish has anything to do with the temperature. It could just be that the temperature drop happened too quickly. Especially neon tetras do not like sudden changes. 25 degrees celsius is totally sufficient for tetras. Just a wait a couple days and you'll probably...

30 degrees celsius is way too high! Those shrimp are *not* tropical species. They occur in parts of Japan where it can get really cold in the winter. That might actually be the reason why your shrimp are dying. Keep them at 20-25 degrees celsius and they will be fine. Mustafa 20-25 degree Celcius.....
