somebody goofed
No obvious females yet. I do hope they will survive and reproduce as well as my RCS have done. I tried CRS and lost all 20 of them. My water was probably too hard for them. I felt badly about losing them but we learn from our mistakes.

somebody goofed
I have them in a 2-1/2 gal tank with lots of java moss. My water is artesian well water, rock hard with lots of iron and limestone. I did lose several of them when I first purchased them but these seem to be doing fine now. The ones I lost were like the lighter honey colored ones shown in the first ...

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e194/bludusty/DSC02989.jpg I have 5 of them along with two of the honey colored ones. I thought they colored up pretty well considering they were all just clear and pale when I purchased them. I expected them to all be the same species and clearly they are not. I h...

I think somebody goofed
Being new to shrimp keeping, I am not familiar with all the species except for Cherries and Crystal reds. The big one on the left and the two on the right were sold as "redtails" Its easy to see they are not even the same species. Can someone identify them for me so I can read up about the...

She's ok now
I just checked her and altho her sides and abdomen are still distended and swollen where the fungus grew, the fungus is gone and she seems fine. I saw two eggs still visible high up in her body, but the cluster of them has dissapeared. She must have molted and dropped the cluster of eggs with the fu...

cross breeding
I keep red cherry and recently aquired some crystal reds. Will they cross breed? I hope I can save space by keeping them together but won't do so if they will interbreed.

shrimp fungus
Well mama is still alive, eating and moving around. She has developed a stripe down her back and being kinda new to shrimp keeping, I assume that means she is ready to molt. I do hope she will be fine once that happens. Will keep you posted.

female with fungus
She is still doing ok, eating and trying to get around. The fungus is so massive on her underside that she kind of wobbles when trying to walk. I do hope she will shed the mass of fungus when she molts. None of the others show any signs of this and are very healthy. Will keep you updated on her cond...

Can she be saved? Poor girl
I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I noticed her. Her eggs must have started to fungus and it just kept growing. Should I try something to save her or just put her to sleep. I feel so bad for her. Please, experts out there, can I try to save her or is she too far gone. Thanks in advance for a...

There were only 4 or 5 eggs in the skeleton. I have several females in a heavy planted tank, so don't know which one it could have come from. Thank you for your reply.

being sold as "RED" shrimp
Being new to shrimp keeping, I already have some red cherries but found another species I liked that were called just plain "red shrimp" at a local store. They had another tank of red cherry shrimp. Price range for the RC were 5.98 ea. and the plain old "Reds" were 2.98 ea. I am ...
