thanks for the reply
Thanks for responding to my message. :) As for how to tell the difference between males and females...I was able to tell really easily in this case as the females were carrying eggs around, but in general I think that females tend to be bigger and plumper looking than males. The males are usually sl...

New Ghost Shrimp
Hi everyone. I just got 5 new ghost shrimp yesterday! :D Pretty cool as a few of them are definately female as they are carrying eggs around. I do have them in a tank with fish, but I've done that in the past and it worked out just fine. However, I've only seen 3 of them this morning. 2 females and ...

veggies
Peas...I don't think peas would have come to my mind so thanks for the advice. Are frozen peas ok or should they be fresh ones?
I'll make sure to be careful with the potatos.
Thanks!

veggie for my crayfish/lobster
I tried some cucumber! I figured the inside would fall apart so I gave my crayfish a piece of peel. I stuck it by his hiding spot and he appears to have eaten it. Zucchini was recommended but I didn't have any so this was my next best choice. Any thoughts on giving my crayfish/lobster carrots or som...

male or female? how do I tell?
I have 3 bamboo shrimp and I was wondering if there is any way to tell if I have males, females, or a mixture. I was reading the post about raising baby bamboo shrimp and it got me wondering what sex my shrimp are. If any one knows how I can tell which is which please let me know. Thanks.

Great info!
THANK YOU EVERYONE! It's always nice to get good suggestions/advice. Thanks a lot. I'll be trying to make sure my bamboo shrimp get the micro pellets and I'm also making sure to crush up some fish flakes when I feed my fish - just to make sure some gets to them. So far all 3 of them seem to be doing...

feeding bamboo shrimp
It was recommended to me in a previous post I made that I should provide my shrimp with some supplementary food as they are living with quite a few tank mates. I went out to the pet store and searched around - looking for something really small that they would be able to hold on to. I picked up micr...

tank size for bamboo shrimp
I'm not too sure about tank size requirements for bamboo shrimp, but I have mine in a 20gal. As for keeping them in groups - the information I got at my local pet shop (and I know that they aren't always 100% on target with everything as most stores just aren't) said that they like to be in groups. ...

clown loaches and shrimp
One person has mentioned that my clown loach might be bad company for my bamboo shrimp.....so far I haven't had any problems and when I had ghost shrimp before the clown loach never bothered with them. Does anyone else think that I should worry about my clown loach? I guess I hadn't thought of it be...

Blue Lobster/Crayfish Question
I have had my blue lobster/crayfish for 1 year. He lives in a 20gal tank. The filter system is an Eclipse. The tank contains a variety of freshwater, community fish and 3 recently purchased bamboo shrimp. He has taken up lots of his time digging around under the large decorative log I have in the ta...
