finally got the 40B full. RO water and Instant Ocean Sea Salt (2 boxes for 10 gallons each) - that means in about 2 months i can order my shrimp!!! yay! which gives me enough time to save the money for them, and order my macroalgae in one month.

update on the ghost shrimps :smt013 :-x i put a single mosquito fish into the tank for 2 weeks while i quickly cycled another 10gal for 3 of them with a seeded sponge filter, and the one fish ate and or killed 20 shrimp in 2 weeks. i have 1 left, 21 when the fish went in. so i think im going to move...

unlikely that you starved them. the strips are inaccurate. you should get some liquid drop tests and use those. they are cheap and more accurate.

hi, can we get some exact numbers to better understand whats going on possibly? it might have been that the GH/KH was too high for them. or possibly switching the substrate caused a mini-cycle and the ammonia spike killed them.

quick update i switched the 20H to a 20L its going to be some pristella tetras, dwarf corys, and ottos. probably some snails from the plants i put in. the 10 gal shrimp tank is dong good. i saw a juvi shrimp in there once, but havent seen it since. all the other times they were copepods :( but i do ...
