Re: Is water change required for <1 gallon setups with snail?

It does not matter. You don't have to do any water changes going forward.

Re: Do Opae "saddle"?

You mean like these pics. I believe so. But unlike cherry shrimp for example they can be like this and not become saddled. I have quite a few like this but the amount that become berried is a low percentage.

Re: Population Explosion!

If you're setting up a new tank and you already have an established Opae Ula tank take some of the established water from that tank. Add it to the new one and throw an air stone in there. It will create move movement which in my opinion will cycle the tank faster causing more algae growth all over t...

Re: Population Explosion!

Personally I'm a fan of temps around 70 degrees. I feel that's the ideal temp. I've got my 5+ year old quart jar that started with 15 not there's over 60+ opea in there. https://www.reddit.com/r/shrimptank/comments/pbmo24/new_shrimp_babies_in_my_quart_jar/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Jarrariums/comment...

I wouldn't worry. How many did you start with & how many are there in there now?

Re: Snails climbing out of the water/shrimp population

Are you worried about your snails overpopulating or the Opae?

Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days

A month later and the Caulerpa seems to be doing well. Very little leaves melting. So far this particular tank is doing the best.

Raise your salt and don’t do any water changes. What are you feeding?

You should be fine. Probably the cloud is just made up of calcium. Worse case just do a major water change.

I don't think you can convert eleocharis acicularis to a brackish salinity of 1.014. Looks like it's strictly a FW plant which as far as plant care has more requirements than most i.e. CO2 &, med to high light + fertilization. Very little when it comes to plants is a brackish tank. Really it see...

Re: New Tank & Algae After 7 Days

No plans to remove the sponge filter. For this tank I'm just going to leave it in there. The macro algae is doing well with some leaves melting but not many at all. I have a bunch of floaters and have seen a few more berried females. IMG_7753.jpg IMG_7756.jpg IMG_7754.jpg IMG_7763.jpg IMG_7761.jpg
