Re: These King Kong Shrimp I See Listed...

Another shrimp that caught my eye was a black with light blue stripes on it. Very striking. I wonder if breeders will make a black with red stripes and how much variation we will see in that regard.

Re: These King Kong Shrimp I See Listed...

That's great info sir. Thank you. :)

I definitely agree with how far many species have gone with commercial breeding and hybridization. Discus and angelfish are a couple of my favorites in that regard. :D

These King Kong Shrimp I See Listed...

... What are they?

I assume they are the best of the best, so to speak, of crystal reds or whatever.

Are these really worth the $? Looks like they sell for around $30/ea on aquabid. I also see an odd shrimp called the Blue Bolt. Are these gimmicks?

Re: Carnivorous ghost shrimp

Oooooh. I think I might know what these are. :) Potentially, they could be baby prawn if they are exhibiting behavior that is very aggressive. Small prawn often are mixed in with ghost shrimp or mislabeled as them in the hobby. Many times they get quite large and they can literally take over an enti...

Re: Rebirth of the Invert Room

I wish Mustafa! I'd like to try my hand at breeding and raising baby rosenbergiis but I don't have much hope that I'll be able to replicate their ideal environment (with the salinity and whatnot). My girlfriend is getting a couple books out at the library for me to study. If it's possible to do (and...

Re: Rebirth of the Invert Room

Fantastic progress! Like Mustafa said, you are quite handy plumbing all those tanks and having the carpentry skills for making the racks. Seeing these pics really makes me want to collect some tanks and get started on plans for a system. :) Oh, and to answer your previous question, all four tanks I ...

Re: Macrobrachium sp. "Red Claw" with eggs

Ahhhh. That's interesting to note. I'll turn the heater down this evening. In good news, I found three baby macros cruising around last night. So, perhaps I was a little hasty in my initial thoughts that none made it. They are about 3mm in length now. Adorable with the little bright red claws. Thank...

Re: Rebirth of the Invert Room

Very cool stuff NewJohn. This is the direction I'd like to go in the next couple years. Maintaining the few invert tanks I have now is tanking a toll. It would be so much easier to have all the tanks in line on a system for water change and maintenance purposes. Please continue to post up pics. And ...

Re: Macrobrachium sp. "Red Claw" with eggs

They are in a 20 gallon tank. They get fed twice daily and I believe it is enough. I don't want to over feed them. Having the booming cherry population may be taking some food out of their mouths but I don't think it is that much. This is a very well-furnished tank so it's not like they don't have h...

Re: Macrobrachium sp. "Red Claw" with eggs

Thanks for the response. It looks like they are all cherries unless the macro babies are better at hiding. I don't know what is wrong with my group of macros. The males keep killing the females. I lost my only other female last week. :x The macros do not hassle the cherry shrimp in the tank, but the...

Re: Macrobrachium sp. "Red Claw" with eggs

Not to bring an old thread back but I had to seeing that I am in a similar situation with my red claws. I think my berried female from a couple weeks ago may have given birth to a bunch of babies before she passed. RIP mommy red claw. In any event, how long does it typically take for these guy...

Re: How long for red claw macros to hatch?

Got home from a long day at work to find my berried female's carcass 2/3s eaten in the back corner of the tank. To the best of my knowledge, she hadn't released any of the babies but I could be wrong. Seemed like close to 45 days had passed. At this point, I'm curious if anyone has ideas of wh...

Re: Film floating on top of water surface...

Mustafa knows his stuff. :)

As he said, definitely err on the conservative side when feeding the shrimp. The ph could also probably be a little higher too but as long as they look okay neutral may be okay.

How long for red claw macros to hatch?

I have a female who's been berried for somewhere around 35 days now. These babies should be hatching soon, right?
