Re: Help !! Need Advice !!
In the future if you set up any new(used) tanks, its a good idea to just fill the tank 1/4 to 1/2 inch of water level and see how level the tank is. Your problem seems to have happened becouse the tank was filled in a warped position or it had too much water in it when moved. If you need to raise a ...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
When I found the male he was missing a claw. I'm taking a guess here that maybe (fingers crossed) he tried to mate with the female that molted?? Thanks Mustafa, for the "cumulative stress theory", it kind of reinforces all of my experience with shrimp and crays. I can see where it could ap...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
Well today is not a good day! :( I just discovered the male in the water not moving at all. After locating the other two individuals I found a "fourth" crab. The fourth one turned out to be a molt. So now I know what those look like, but the male is gone and so are hopes for breeding! :( :...

Re: oh joy, more crayfish worms... any ideas? (on ID, I mean)
Thanks BiffMalawi, this treatment sounds a lot easier than the toothbrush method. But now I'm curious, why does the man/women you quoted say that it may be benificial depending on species?

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
I welcome ANY tips and pointers on these guys. (I've already devoured all the available scientific literature I could find since I found out about them more than 2 years ago ). Is there any way I could access this literature? I'm stone walled at every web site I go to. I'm eager to hear about the sp...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
To the best of my knowledge, no one in the U.S. has bred them. I haven't had the chance to add crickets yet. But the crabs are QUICK, and pounce on earwigs with ease.

Re: oh joy, more crayfish worms... any ideas? (on ID, I mean)
Sounds like a hydra to me. The worms that I saw actually drill a hole in the shell and retract into it when disturbed. Thats why I've never been able to catch one with tweezers.

Re: First Crayfish - Need Some Advice
My experience with crays. They can and will crawl out of an aquarium if the top isn't gap proof. They are omnivores, veggies and carnivorous items. I fed them sinking fish food, and they loved it. They also like more current than shrimp care for. I would also offer several different hiding spots in ...

If everything is okay with your water, then maybe it was old age? I have also had old shrimp do the same thing.

Re: Hawaiian Volcano Shrimp
Okay Bill, now you have my curiosity. The snails in this tank are ramshorn snails? Is that what I'm reading in the posts? If that's true, then how long can they remain in a braskish set up?

Re: Ameno Shrimp Dies After Molting?
It's been my expereince that shrimp purchased at a store and molting soon after seem to die also. My theory on this is poor nutrition from being shipped and too much stress.

Re: Looking for shrimp safe antifungal
If it isn't broke, then don't fix it!!! New born shrimp aren't born with fungus! If they're fungusing soon after hatching, then it sounds like they're getting injured to cause the fungus. Are you aerating your water too much? Most species like minimal water current. From personal experience, shrimp ...
