Re: My new 1g jar and some questions!
I only really asked about the weird halocline/bloom because it was an almost flat "surface" about 1/3 of the way up the tank and not something I'd ever seen or expected! I guess with the jar water being almost perfectly still, it's much easier for the bacteria to form a sheet like that. Th...

Re: Do Opae "saddle"?
Yep, that's about what mine look like! I guess they are just happy and full! The jar has pretty well cycled and the macroalgae is growing like a weed and algae is starting to show on the inside of the jar so they have plenty of food sources.

Do Opae "saddle"?
My jar is still only about three months old, but I notice a couple of the shrimp have what I would call a saddle in a freshwater shrimp. Do Opae ula get saddles before they develop eggs, or are they just happy and full of food?

My new 1g jar and some questions!
It's been about six weeks since I set up a 1g jar for my shrimpies, and about two weeks since I put them in. They seem to be doing great and I'm really happy with the setup! I have it on the kitchen counter next to a terrarium with a day/night cycle LED hood, so they get a good amount of light to he...

Re: Have 8-year Old Ecosystem Shrimp - Not sure what to do
I just finished reading this thread, what a ride, and congratulations to you and Trooper! I'm starting to set up my own tank, I hope I have as much luck and fun as you have! Do you think Trooper is still in there? If so, (s)he's a teenager now, so get ready for sulking and bad behaviour.
