Re: Moving Shrimp?

Turkey baster! Gently, though. I've also had luck using a baking tablespoon to capture them.

Re: Hiya, New here! Help me save this shrimp!

Someone has been commenting on one of my photos on the image hosting site concerned about oxygen, since there are no plants, or bubbles and that the tank is lidded. I thought that the substrate, which is aragonite provided oxygen. Congratulations! You definitely want to keep the tank covered, but n...

He looks pale, which is to be expected from the moving stress, but otherwise just fine! Resist the urge to feed for now. There is plenty of biofilm for him to munch on even if you can't see algae yet. Nice going!

Re: Work desk jar - first opae ula attempt

i've found in the past with both salt and fresh that slow and steady are usually the most sure way to make sure there aren't unforseen spikes or mini cycles. i know that these guys are a good bit more resistant to those sorts of issues than a typical invert, but i've got lots of time and no real go...

It looks like that shrimp in the front is saddled. I'd wait it out.

Re: Work desk jar - first opae ula attempt

I love those barnacles! Your arrangement is really nice. I do agree you should remove some of the substrate. If it's that thick it will trap debris in a very not good way that can allow dangerous gases to build up and harm the shrimp. The snails won't burrow that deep, so no help there. Apart from t...

Re: New to aquariums

Welcome to the club :D Looks like you're making a good start! You should be fine to just rinse your stuff thoroughly in tap water and let it dry before assembling your tank. Feeding can be a fun way to see all your shrimp at once, but it will be such a tiny amount and they might not need it at all. ...

Re: Second nano tank is up and running

It's maturing nicely and all the shrimp are big and happy. Very hard to spot all six at once since they really like crawling in the holey rock, but sometimes I get lucky. A new batch of tiny snails appeared seemingly overnight, so must be ok in there! I moved Big Mossball in a while back, and it has...

Re: Are the shrimp and nerites competing for food?

Mustafa's snails like to come out at night. Check you tank in the evening after it has been dark for some time and you're more likely to spot some if they are in there.

Re: Hiya, New here! Help me save this shrimp!

That rock looks great! The shrimp will love all those nooks and crannies, and they'll provide additional surface area for algae and biofilm. Cool to hear about that LFS (local fish shop), too. Sounds like the Kyle guy could be a good resource. I vote you should get to keep Bubba after putting in so ...
