Re: Limnopilos Naiyanetri
If you got them from Germany do you know if they're captive bred or wild caught? I have dial-up, it would take me forever to download any video. Info on your set-up would be appreciated.

Re: New Hikari shrimp food (with copper)
I find it odd that they would mention copper, after all thats what we use to kill pathogens in our tanks. Do shrimp need a higher copper diet?

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
:smt005 Today while cleaning the tank I discovered 3 juveniles with a carapace diameter of about 6mm. I saw a fourth one with one of the females that was only about 3mm in diameter. Their coloration blends in with the gravel really good. The only way I noticed was because I saw a knot on the branch ...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
Yesterday I discovered the other female molted, finally. This female dug a pit that goes down to the water level, but what was left of the molt was up on top of the substrate. It looked as if she molted on dry land as opposed to all previous molts which occurred in the water.

Re: New Member Intro "HI!"
Welcome! I lived in San Diego for a while way back when and never got to know the "hobby" there (military). I've never found those shrimp for sale anywhere, but after reading about all the posts of those shrimp on this forum I'm not sure that I want to keep them. But that darn curiosity st...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
Thats intresting info! Hope you do have a pair. This morning I found one of my females inside my fruitfly culture. The odd thing about that is that she could only get into it by jumping from a nearby limb. I've witnessed one time were a crab jumped from my hand, so I think it was totally within her ...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
Okay, so last week I thought I lost one of the females. Today the other female wasn't in her hiding spot, so I took the tank cover off to start looking. What I found were two females! I assumed the one crab died because the molt had so much color in it, though not as much as a living crab. Now I wis...

Re: Red Claw sexing help please
Yep, the second one has bigger swimerettes (the paddles underneath). All the better for carrying eggs. She won't breed though until she molts. I have actually witnessed it . Just as described on this web site. It happened so quick I wasn't sure if what I saw was it. But it was.

Re: Red Claw sexing help please
Red claw sexing is easy. If you look at them from above, the females will have a tail that is wider than the males. By tail I mean everything behind the legs. Of course as the males get bigger the dominate one will get the big claws. However, at the moment I have 2 males in the same tank that have b...

Re: Baby Ghost Shrimp
just an update. Only 4 shrimp made it to adult size from the wild caught parents. However, I now have several different age groups in the tank and though they aren't busting out in a big population explosion, they seem a lot hardier than what the parents were. :D I'm going to see how long I can keep...

Re: clams
From personal experience, my clams did good when I fed my fish food that was too small for the fish. The food would be too heavy to stay in the water and settle down low. However! I have never been able to keep freshwater clams alive more than a year, thats why I won't aquire them anymore. :( They a...

Re: How much zeolite in the filter? How much is safe?
#1, shrimp (and all inverts) should only be kept in a WELL CYCLED tank, no matter what the size. #2 a well cycled tank doesn't need zeolite (at least to my knowledge). #3...you just aren't going to enjoy the hobby until you have a cycled tank (maybe 4 weeks) .
