There are 3 leaves in the Malaya tank and I will remove one of them... The RCS tank has 4, but they seem to go through them pretty quick with about 60 shrimp in there. They (Malaya) seem to like working the underside of the leaves for some reason. They seem plenty active, but stay under or on the le...

Hello Mustafa and All, So far so good and the shrimp seem to be doing fine. I don't see them much as there is plenty of cover under the leaf litter in the tank and they spend most of their time there. They are however fond of picking at the sponge filter and there were 7 on it this morning so I assu...

Malaya Shrimp and the new guy....

Hi All, Well I joined this forum a short while back after trying out some shrimp in a community tank... Naturally this lead to 2 more tanks set up in my office one a 20 gallon long with a new and happily breeding RCS colony, the other is a 15 gallon tall that has been cycling with the help of water ...

Howdy Mustafa and All, I monitor my water very closely as well as do water changes usually weekly. This naturally does not mean there is something else I am not aware of involved. This shrimp is now as you guessed showing signs of being in trouble and is far less active even at feeding time although...

I guess we'll have to go with the "trooper" theory and figure on the critter expiring, it was curious to me that this shrimp has retained it's white color for 60 days or so and is still alive. I have had them breed and have young, but by no effort of my own to help as they are in a 29 gal ...

Perhaps thats it :D None of the others look stressed though and there are a couple generations as well as RCS and Bamboo shrimp in this tank. Water is fine so who knows what it's problem is. Thanks for the reply

Color Change in GS

Hello All, I do in fact realize that there is info regarding GS turning a milk or chalk white color and what I have reviewed all seems to indicate impending death of these shrimp. So naturally when this fellow turned color and I read the info regarding same I feared the worst. Now it has been 2 mont...

Hi pixl8r, Sorry if I was missing something and I will review your suggestions...I am like I said a very enthusiastic beginner and didn't want to add more Cherrys only to put them in harms way. I should mention that all my shrimp seem happy as can be and boldly hang around with the fish with no visi...

Community tank question

Hi All, New here and fairly new to the facinating world of shrimp. I have a heavily planted (fast and slow growing) 29 gal with 145 GPH power filter running at about 3/4 speed. I keep my water checked and balanced with the PH around 7.2 as a rule. I have Fancy Guppies, 2 Corys, several Ghost Shrimp,...
