Good good. Came home today from work and i can easily follow where the snail has eaten algae from the glass. Both by seeing lines of algae disappearing and by seeing poop on the glass

Snail was moving the first two hours, but the last 6 hours it didnt move anymore. Can i assume that its sleeping or is it suffering? Anything i should pay attention to, or just watch if he has moved over the night?

For your information, bought 1 neritina turrita snail this morning. I used a rough dripping method for the salinity and introduced the snail to the tnak after two hours. I tried to find some but nowhere i can buy these horned nerite snails. Are other nerite snails also ok? And dont they leave the tank? Was hoping to get a clean tank without snails but maybe i should get some anyway. How much snails do you advise for a 30 liter tank? And doesnt get your tank polluted...

Just an update as it has been a while. Shrimps are doing fine, but the diatoms (brown algae) are really annoying. I have two options: leaving the tank so all glass gets covered with the ugly diatoms (and i dont see any shrimp), or cleaning the glass and disturbing the shrimp so they become pale and ...

Unless the rocks will lower your pH I guess...

I used similar rocks, but small ones and only 3-4. Just washed them with sea water and shrimp are doing fine...
They look similar, not sure if they are the same rocks. Also found them on the beach

Great thanks, I will have a bit more patient:). The opae seem to like the brown algae though...

I am wondering, is air contact promoting algae growth in general, or is it promoting green algae? I keep my tank covered a lot, with only a very narrow space to allow evaporation, but i only have brown algae. If i take the lid off more often, should this improve green algae growth?

I have the same irritations concerning the algae and disturbing the shrimp when scraping tha algae off. The problem with snails is not that they eat too much algae, the problem is (in my opinion) that 1) they reproduce too much or lay eggs everywhere 2) they leave the tank and go 'on land' 3) dying ...

I know [website address removed by admin] also sells opae and they also have a great forum. I cannot comment on if these shrimps are captive-bred or not...
But they are based in UK...

Waaw, crazy that you have so much reproduction in a "small" tank without too much hiding places.
You keep the larvae in the original tank? What snails do you have?
