i hope the move went well (password or interest lost aside). i have actually been designing a tank for long distance moves recently, with a 12v plug-in to the car lighter, for the (built in) air pump with a sponge filter :) all you would need to do is make sure you "seed" the sponge before...

This is an amazing thread tooth! absolutely astonishing :p i love the pictures and the information is invaluable. if you ever need to cull some of the shrimp out someday im always looking for new "children" to care for. im making 2 diy plywood tanks and looking for some inhabitants for them.

I have been doing alot of research lately and have found a short list of leaves that are safe for your shrimp. I have not personally tried any of these other than oak and maple. i am trying some others when i get home from holiday. If you have any others you find that work well, please share :) Also...

Crypts, i hear, can release a toxic sap if trimmed inside the tank. it is recommended to remove the plant before trimming, and wait for the cut to heal before replacing into the tank.

hi April, i have some ghost shrimp going right now (as they are the only thing i can afford) and i would suggest no more than 2-5 shrimp per gallon for ghosts to keep them comfy.
