Re: Oxygen and Color

This study claims that a shrimp lacking oxygen will not be "red". Assuming this is true, and assuming that shrimp need high levels of oxygen to survive, should tanks have bubblers? Should we have more plants? :smt102 I think not, given they seem so adapted to thrive in low oxygen environm...

Re: What did I do wrong

I feel helpless to watch them die today. Tried to move all the shrimps to a bigger tank, same water, same salinity, shrimps died instantly touching new water, all of them. Tested water in the new tank, distilled water, same salinity as the old one, it was as if the water was toxic the shrimps can’t...

Re: The wait is over! Found a berried shrimp!

Five of the six larvae from the second shrimp momma are free today, and momma #3 began hatching this morning. When #3 is done, the tank population will have doubled! I started with 18 shrimp and each momma has hatched 6 larvae. I haven't been able to get a good count of eggs on the fourth shrimp, b...

Re: Berried female not producing larvae?

Definitely the 2 that dropped are dead but the ones that are still attached to her I'm wondering if they're a lost cause. Maybe one day she'll drop all of them seeing that they're not progressing at all. They're still in her yolk sac. Oh well! Hopefully I get more berried females soon as there are ...

Re: Ants in my Tank!!

My shrimp are arriving this week, but I've noticed carpenter ants in my house!! They are quite larger than sugar ants, should I be worried about my shrimp? They aren't bothering any of my fish...

Re: Random white string in my tank?

Hello! I hope someone can help me out here since I'm a newbie. I recently took my shrimps out of ecosphere hell (one week ago) so I know i might not be doing the best job with the water changes, feeding etc. but I can tell my shrimps are happy now. They swim together all the time and do their daily...

Re: Weird swarm?

What's the salinity in your tank? Also, depending on the species the amphipods/isopods may actually bother the shrimp by climbing all over them. I found this quote from Mustafa from a 2016 thread in the forum. Based on further research throughout the forum, I found many people discussing salinity a...

Re: Weird swarm?

Hi everyone! I just recently got my tank going around the middle of February and everything has been going great! There's been no issues but a couple of my shrimp did die in the beginning (R.I.P little guys  ). I've been busy as of late and would barely look at my tank because everyone seemed ...

Re: This may sound wierd

Has anyone ever watched their opae ula play and thought, these are what sea monkey's should of been rather then stupid brine shrimp. One can almost see them swim through hoops, with mermaid tails, and castles. Anyway, I can sit for hours watching them play. Jack I have a tank of sea monkeys and I'm...

Re: Q about Food

Mustafa wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2017 5:11 pm My small tanks just get a flake or two of normal fish flake food every few weeks or months depending on algae growth. As long as you have quality fish food it doesn't really matter what brand you feed them.
How do I know if there's enough algae growth or if I have to supplement?

Awesome. I think that natural shells will look amazing in my setup! :)
