I freaking hate the mail system, the shrimps were supposed to get here today or tomorrow and they didn't get here today. That does mean they'll get here tomorrow though (hopefully, knock on wood). :-D The impatient lady is done whining now. :smt042 :smt069 Anyway, the wormy shrimp is worm fre...

So, I love water change day. I make a big ruckus with the siphon, and since I plant so heavily/use so many rocks, it's about the only time I get to see all my aquarium life at once. Wormy the shrimp was actually riding around on the siphon for awhile, it was entertaining. Anyway, the big ghost is de...

Apple snails need to be fed, and fed a lot, or they starve. I know... I was giving them a variety of cooked veggies, the reason I think it was parasites is, they were eating fine one day and then shut up on the bottom ignoring the food the next, even when I tried to hand it to them (which they prev...

They were, brigs to be specific. I don't know what happened to yours, but mine (except for one, which I talked about in the other inverts section) acted completely normal, eating like crazy, then one day they just closed up and started to shrink. It was like they were starving, only in fast motion, ...

All of the shrimp cam in the same shipment from one supplier and were later divided up. I chalk it up to the shrimps' ability to blend in with their surroundings  Shrimp are amazing... the one I moved back to the invert tank has paled some, so you're probably right. Anyway, I am back in town ...

I've noticed with most aquatic life, if it is active within the first couple days after purchase (ie, eating and not hiding all the time), they usually make it. It can be a rough couple of days for the guy on the other side of the glass though. Good luck! I've always wanted some filter shrimp, they ...

Excel is potent stuff, I would not trust it in an invert tank, although I use it in my planted community tank to great success -- it is the best algaecide I've ever used, and the plants grow like crazy! :-D You'll note, it is the only member of the Flourish family of plant food with a child proof ca...

Hey, I don't WANT it to be something else. It looks quite a lot different from my other ghost shrimp though, with the stripes and all, is almost twice as big, and acts a bit different -- never swims to get food at all, rather waits for it to sink -- so I couldn't help but wonder. You're probab...

One of the shrimp passed the worm, and is more active today, so I think she's going to make it! The only problem is, she looks kind of... interesting, for a ghost shrimp. She's getting little white stripes on her back, and cunning black tiger stripes and spots on her face... here are some (bad) pict...

So, you peaked my interest, and I found this: When properly cared for, the Black Ghost Knifefish can reach well over one foot in length. I didn't know they got that big! Quite a show stopper, but when it got big it would eat everything else in your tank. I understand wanting one though, good...

Ew GROSS! :smt078 It's good to know there's hope for the little guys though, one of them the worm is pretty small, but the other it is MASSIVE, and seems to be starting to travel down the shrimp's tail. Hopefully it will pass soon then, the shrimp is a monster for a ghost, and still fairly active ev...

Sounds exciting, I wish I had room for a big show tank... someday I says to myself, someday. :smt106 My only concern is the black ghost knife fish. They are nocturnal predators, when you're watching during the day everything will seem fine, but once the lights go off they will start feasting on your...
