There are times it's fortunate my husband has absolutely forbidden me from putting aquariums in the kitchen? :-D

Dude, that is one rocking shrimp, and if it's nonnative, I bet nobody would care if you "borrowed" a few. :-D

Don't worry, the magical ingredient is likely something along the lines of "snail poo" or "hideous grey fuzzy stuff," so drinking wasn't on the list of things to do with it. Alas, the tank I put the redclaws in had a nitrite spike today for heaven-only-knows-why, so we will...

It's like Christmas!!!

First, I got snowball shrimp! Yay!!! They are tiny, but seem to be doing well (when I can find them!). Second, when I was cleaning out the tank in preparation for the snowballs, I found four baby redclaw shrimp! I bought the mother from the lfs to see if I liked them, and was CERTAIN the eggs were i...

You know, I think I actually like them BETTER with the dark and orange coloration, rather than just orange. Like a Halloween shrimp. :D

Maybe you could try Melafix? Supposedly it is shrimp safe, I know it is snail safe but have never tried it on shrimp. Isolating any sick one/s is probably a good idea too.

Wow I am impressed, I've always kind of wanted to try fiddler crabs, but couldn't figure out a way to give them sand. Do they breed for you? On the keeping warm in a power outage, I've never had one that long, but I have some thick fuzzy blankets that I always throw over my tanks when the power goes...

I don't know what it is either, but having been in Hokkaido, it can and does get dang hot for a couple months in the summer, so they might be fine at room temperature. Do you know which lake in specific they come from? Might help to know.

One of the ghost shrimp in my latest batch had this EXACT same thing. I don't know what it is either, but it doesn't seem to be contageous -- the ulcerated shrimp was in quarantine with one with one of those intestinal worms, the ulcer shrimp died on about the fourth or fifth day, but it's buddy nev...

That is a bit disappointing to hear, although not entirely unexpected... although, this is not from Frank, just somebody using his picture. I have emailed them with a number of questions, we will see how good they are I suppose. On the bright side though, it's like mystery box shrimp! If I liked sur...

"blue" midget shrimp

Thanks to the death of a really mean dwarf gourami, I have been able to reshuffle my tanks (all the fish can go together now yay!) and have room for another species of shrimp! I have been looking at these: http://www.aquatic-store.com/media/bluemidget_shrimp_frank.jpg Look familiar to anybody? The s...
