Won't the Met Lohena kill the Opae Ula when they are in the benthic stage?

Re: Shrimp Newbie

I've just started my opea ula keeping journey. I have a 2 gallon tank I'm about to start cycling. I've bought almost all the necessities for good shrimp keeping off this fantastic website. However, I'm wanting to make my tank more vibrant with life for my little shrimp and new plants and coral for ...

Re: Quart Jar

So I've had this opae quart jar for over 2 years now. Started with 15 opae or so. It's been doing great I've fed it 4 or 5 times at the begining and now no longer feed. Population by now must be over 50 easily. There have been many berried females and floaters throughout the year. Pics aren't the b...

Re: New tank set up advice please

I have to agree with Dch48. While it may seem like one bubble per second is not much it actually is.Think of it as hearing one jackhammer per second in your own home. I'm not being extreme. This is somewhat the same in keeping African clawed frogs. Just the slight bit of water movement(bubbles) can...

Re: New tank set up advice please

Thanks, 1 more question. Airstones? It's a pretty good size 10 gallon halfmoon with a small air pump it shouldn't send waves but some agitation? I'm planning a little lighted bubbler surrounded by lava rock. .. A bubbler is not necessary but I use one and set it for approximately one bubble per sec...

Re: New tank set up advice please

1st time trying these shrimp although I've had neos, Bloody Mary, and Blue dreams and Blue bolts in the past and it will be interesting to go against all I know about keeping shrimp with these. I have some old pieces of dry cleaned old coral I'm assuming will be fine for decorating and wondering if...

Re: Dying snails?!?

A proviso, but in a supershrimp tank MTS won't take over either, provided you don't overfeed the tank. Nerites are certainly prettier, but in supershrimp tanks they can sometimes have trouble finding enough food (some people cycle a few between different tanks to allow algae to recover), plus they ...

Re: When can you add the supershrimp Mossball to the tank?(new setup)

I personally woundn't put the mossball in till after the Opae have been in the tank. My reasoning is what will the mossball feed on? These's no waste from the opae in there? You're essentially adding a plant to a blank tank with no means of sustaining it? Why not put it one once the opae are in or ...

Re: Should I remove dead shrimp?

I set up my tank in June. 1 gallon, 10 shrimp, 1 nerite snail. When the snail died I didn't replace it. For a long time I could, occasionally, spot all 9 shimp. I saw many molts. In September I spotted a berried female. I'm not sure if the eggs hatched or she dropped them. I haven't noticed any bab...

Re: When can you add the supershrimp Mossball to the tank?(new setup)

I know you need to let the tank "mingle" for 4-6 weeks before adding shrimp. Curious on when it's safe to add a moss ball? Would this speed up the "mingle"? Anyways to speed up the tank setup process? I'm using: -aragonite sand (https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/c...

Re: Green hair algea

]Hi guys, I have had my set up for about 7 months now, its a 90 litre tank so a decent size for these. Anyway I added a small inch size of microalgae to tank when I purchased my shrimp. Have about 40 shrimp and no signs of breeding yet. Microalgae is now a considerable size, several inches. My ques...

Hair algae is not wanted. Remove it if you can using tweezers. It can be a real nuisance.
