I have heard about Indian Almond Leaves and their benefits for aquarium inhabitants. However, I can almost guarantee you that they are not directly responsible for the breeding frenzy among the cherry red shrimp. As long as the shrimp get enough to eat they will breed. My PH is very high at 7.8 and ...

You might want to put a couple pieces of crushed coral in your tank to take care of the calcium. It will benefit the shrimp. As long as the PH does not get too high, your plants will do fine, too. Mustafa I find, though, that my shrimp and plants consume all my calcium carbonate and I have to add da...

Yes, I do the same. I just sit there and observe them graze the algae carpets in my tank (I actually try to promote the growth of algae because of my shrimp!!). I'll definitely let you know when the Sri Lanka shrimp start breeding. I have not been able to observe any gravid females yet, but I've onl...

By the way, where do you live and who is this gentleman? If you don't mind, I'd like to know. Take care, Mustafa Please correct me if they are not Crystal Red Bee Shrimp, although they appear to be and thats what I was told they were when I purchased them through a local fishclub workshop and auction...

I honestly do not know what fertilizers to recommend to you since I am not using any. I do know that there are copper-free fertilizers out there, so do a search on Google.com and maybe you'll find something. As for the ghost shrimp...what you might have are brackish/saltwater ghost shrimp, which do ...

Yes, there are test kits for measuring copper in your water, just like you have test kits for GH/KH, PH, Ammonia etc. They are just not very commonly used and your local fish store might not have them in store. They can order it for you, though, or you can just bring a sample of your aquarium water ...

I am strongly suspecting that you have copper in your water. Lots of plant fertilizers contain copper and even the smallest amounts of copper can kill shrimp. I don't think you have to worry about KH/GH or PH parameters. In that regard, these shrimp are very adjustable as long as extremes are avoide...

Even tiny little amounts of copper can kill shrimp over time. Maybe you should use something that has no copper. LFS don't usually have any shrimp except for Amanos and Wood/Bamboo Shrimp once in a while. I got my shrimp from Frank Grecco at http://www.franksaquarium.com . His shrimp are very high q...

Hi Mark! Yes, the crystal reds are great! Once the goldfish is gone you should get some. The amanos won't bother them either. If you can, try to get 10-12, so you can almost be sure that you have some males and females in there. That way they'll just reproduce in your tank and you'll have years of f...
