Are you sure it's not this one: http://www.petshrimp.com/bambooshrimp.html

Did it have fan-shaped "feet" on its front legs?

Shrimp are really, really good at hiding.

I'm not too sure about what's going on, perhaps an incomplete moult?

You can link to pictures that are remotely hosted (imageshack/photobucket, etc.) but you can't upload images directly on this site.

When I need to catch shrimp in my shrimp-only (and a few snails) tank, I put in a piece of food, and wait until the shrimp come to it, then net them out. Something like a piece of algae wafer works well.

I can't say I specifically breed snails in the same tank as my cherries, but they both do pretty well in there. They mostly ignore eachother.

I get the sponges from powerhead filters (the same as the sponge in the link Mustafa posted) and put them over the intake strainer. It works well for me. One thing you will need to do is rinse out the sponge often, as if they get clogged the will reduce the flow of the filter. Watch out for baby shr...

Are you sure they're dead and haven't just molted?

I use "standard" aquarium ferts in my tanks with shrimp, and haven't had any problems. I've used both Flourish and CSM+B mix with no problems (at the recommended dose).

Unfortunately, most fish stores have little in-depth knowledge of shrimp. Sometimes you're lucky if they know much about the fish! Of course, the number of "brownish" shrimp doesn't help if you don't know much about them, and the number of common names like "algae eating shrimp" ...

As far as I remember, my cherries took about 21 days to hatch. It has been quite some time that I can't keep track of them. The babies are very tiny, and it might take you a while to spot one in your tank. Even in a tank that's wasn't really heavily planted it sometimes took me 15 minutes to see one...

That's the lowest night temp :) It's been in the high 60s/low 70s during the day. I'm in the Palm Springs area.

Cherry shrimp temperature surprise

I put some cherry shrimp in my small patio pond last summer, as a small experiment. Today I went to clear some algae from the pond and clean out the fountain pump, and found a cherry in the pond! Yes, in January! The temps here have been getting down to the mid-30s Farenheit this last week, and when...

I use AP Tapwater Conditioner, and it will break the chlorine/ammonia bond in chloramine and remove the chlorine, but it doesn't neutralize the ammonia. You need to dose more to break the bond than if you have chlorine in the water (it says on the bottle). I believe Wardley Chlor-Out does the same t...

If your female betta killed one, I would guess she killed the others, unless they're hiding really well.

My tank has been up for about a year now with lots of crypts and anubias, and still no problems. I have well over 100 shrimp in there now, and have populated many other tanks with them, too.

I always put a piece of algae wafer or other piece of food in the tank, then wait for them to come for it, and net them out.

Sorry to hear that :( What a mess! I have cherries living with angels in a couple of tanks. I do see the angels getting the occasional snack shrimp, and in one tank I often find dried up shrimp that have been chased out of the tank. But, I do have large populations of cherries living in these tanks ...

I'd recommend Amano shrimp. They're good a cleaning algae, and too big to get eaten by most fish.
