This would be a good place for some clarification. I've seen cherry shrimp referred to as Neocaridina heteropoda v. "red" on other forums - is N. heteropoda a junior synonym of N. denticulata , or was N. denticulata ssp sinensis elevated to species level? Or, is there some contention as t...

The yellow shrimp shows different tone of yellow like the cherry reds do with the red. You can see very yellow ones and some that are a pale yellow. Eggs are in fact yellow. I have to agree with Mustafa about his observations regarding that one pic is with flash and lots of lights and the other is n...

I also use Muratic Acid ( HCL ), to clean the substrate. I use a 5 gal. bucket , leaving the bucket outside , and in a safe place. After rinsing the substrate , add it to the bucket. Add water to cover the substrate. Put on the rubber gloves, take the gallon jug of HCL to the bucket location. While...

Hi Pedro, Did you use or try out the diluted HCl I have sent you? Did it work? Thank you. I have used it but has not given me the results I want. Not sure why. Currently my water changed in the winter and after leaving the RO water sitting for a couple of days the ph goes to around 6.8. I still nee...

One more suggestion. If you skip doing PH checks, Make sure your PH meter is calibrated. Since it was sitting un-used, and I did not re-calibrate it. It was .5 off . I was trying to get a PH of 6.8, which I thought I had. And after calibrating the meter, I really had 6.3. Luckily, I did not lose an...

One observation (from Crusty on the Crayfishmates forums) that will be of interest. At least in Australian species, Crayfish eggs apparently aren't firmly attached to the female's pleiopods immediately after spawning. The adhesion takes a few days. She will keep her tail tightly wrapped around the ...

Being in Germany does not necessarily mean you can buy all these shrimp. The rare species can often not just be bought in the petshop round the corner, but one has to know the right people etc. And a lot has changed in the last 1,5 years, many new species were imported / bred. Yes, I also hope I ca...

yellow shrimp is a neocaridina. It probably is a morph of the wild cherry shrimp which exhibits different colors. Is hard to speculate if it is a gene or not without having them or study them.

Re: Mixing dwarf crayfish?

I haven't found any posts on the forum concerning keeping Mexican and Cajun crayfish together. Has anyone tried it? Are the Cajuns more aggressive than C. patzcuarensis? Would interbreeding be possible or likely? Interbreeding is likely to happen. They will coexists as I have put some baby cajuns w...
