Also, Triops will eat them, so if you get any, you will want to separate them. Actually just about everything will eat them. But sometimes Triops get whats coming to them. http://www.ksvp.org/images/wysally/800/800sal_vs_triops2.jpg As for what fairy shrimp are, yes some of us know- http://www.iturn...

I don't think they are, it just may have looked that way. Did you actually see them tearing up the shrimp? It could be the shrimp was covered in some sort of bacteria they were going after. They are filter feeders and not equipped. I did see them swarming one fairy shrimp while it was still alive. ...

These photos show the true color of these critters much better. http://www.iturnrocks.com/images/inverts/aquatic/ostracod/ostracod1.jpg http...

if youre just adding water for evap, you dont need to use distilled, just regular non-cholorinated water like bottled water. You only need distilled for the initial hatching, or unless you are trying to coax a second hatching. Usually now I hatch with distilled in a 1 quart container then after a we...

I have never had a second set of eggs hatch without a dry cycle. This may happen in the wild, but I think it would be difficult to recreate it in captivity. Usually when my fairy shrimp die out, the seed shrimp take over, and I imagine they would kill any new fairy shrimp nauplii. The seed shrimp wi...

What country are you in? Fairy shrimp grow about as fast as Triops, they just dont grow quite as large. Fairy shrimp I have raised have always lived about a month longer than Triops. I would say on average they reach adult size in 3 weeks. But then there are many factors that affect their growth rat...
