Give them time. Young females often have practice runs. It could also be your males are not sexually mature. Give it another month or so before you worry too much. I did a search (thought I had read somewhere that young females will do this)...all other findings such as temp and stuff are very simu...

Up date on the molting problem... So far, no more issues have come up...I did witness a molting...did not actually "see" it...the shrimps exo split just behind the head portion, then all of the sudden, the shrimp jurked away, and the old exo sank to the bottom of the tank! My only conclusi...

We'll have to wait and see how this guy does. Quite the trooper so far, swimming all over the place, eating and grazing. It's been two days now, no molts, no deaths I'm hoping my tank is stabilized? They are all acting normal, eating well etc. Congrats...hope your shrimp are "over the hump&quo...

If you got adult shrimp, rather than juvies, what is happening is to be expected. All the adult RCS I got originally died within 2 months, but not before giving me 10-15 babies. My colony grew from there. Make it a point to only buy juvies. They make the transition much better. cannot be more than ...

If I read her threads correctly, they are RCS. Four is a small clutch. I've never seen a red cherry shrimp with that few. But it's her first clutch, so I guess she's starting slow :-D You are correct...RCS. Dang it, I still can not find my camera! I don't know where I put it last!...nothing new...I...

That rock of yours could be leaching iron too. Iron oxide is by far the most common source of the color red in rocks. If it were my tank, I'd remove it, and anything else that may seem possibly dangerous. Once your shrimp are healthy again, you could add things back in one at a time and monitor clo...

Is there a test that I can buy to test for copper? I normally start out with cold water, and have let the tap run for a minute or two to let any settlement wash out of the lines. I may have gotten a jumpstart with hot water. I had another successful molt again (can not find exo, but the boys are on ...

Cactus Bastard...how are your shrimp today? I have had a female molt successively (well, all 6 males were zooming around the tank). I think I have figured out which ones molt, because as the males are zooming, there is usually 1 female hiding in that multicolored rock...as the male passes, she moves...

Cactus The Gap that you see in Mustafa's picture is the seperation of the exoskelton. You could say this is where the Shrimp is jointed. And this is where, the shrimp will pop out of its skin, when it molts. Suzie Q If a Adult RCS female does not have a saddled or carrying eggs all of the time, she...

Another possibility, since we were both using the same brand of water conditioner, maybe something in their slimecoating can cause difficulties for shrimp when they molt? Since my shrimp were juveniles and growing rapidly / molting frequently, maybe that's why I have several at once? Or I could hav...

That does look a lot like what mine did...only the "head" portion was raised...is this some new disease? I did not have GS or Amanos. Is there any way to combind these threads? They seem so close to the same topic (except that my RCS are not reproducing, though I don't think it is related ...

I believe I'm having the same problem you had - what looks like a molting problem. I saw one that was missing a section last night, and then found her dead several hours later. I then noticed several others that looked very similar, and one in particular was really missing a lot of shell. Was it ju...

I will do ALL the advice given! I am addicted to these shrimp, and watch the tank all the time...I have not seen any berried shrimp at all...but some have hidden in the Java Fern for long periods of time...the Java Moss is not real thick yet...it is attached to the multi-colored rock. I have Twainan...
