Re: My Iwagumi Shrimp Tank "Mt. Sinai"

That tank looks like a shangri la for shrimp. Lovin it.

Eventually I will make a few of my tanks look like that when I stock up on more prawn species. People say they tear apart tanks but I have faith. :)

Gosh, even your snails look amazing. Huge props on your setup.

I was going to ask about the Macros. Being the prawn dork I am, I know they usually don't play well with others (small and large alike). :)

Gorgeous setup!

I'm intrigued with how vibrant your cherry and stone shrimp are. Some of them rival a saltwater fire shrimp. :-D

Also a huge fan of the Macros you have in there.

Good stuff. Thanks for posting.

Re: very colorless

Where did you get the shrimp? What color is your substrate? I hear they really color up only in darker gravel colors. Ideally, you'd want black gravel with possibly slate and dark driftwood surroundings. I actually experimented with this... Had white gravel in one tank and they were completely washe...

Re: Shrimp ID?

Oooooh! That's a Macro of some sort. Definitely not an Amano or ghost shrimp. If you google Macrobrachium it will give you a million hits about prawn and all the variants. There are over 200 described species in the world. Their range spans quite a few continents in the tropics. Some get over a foot...

Re: HELP! RCS dying slowly 1 at a time!?

As long as the current isn't overwhelming it shouldn't cause any issues. I have a Mini jet 606 that pumps through tubing and leads out to a spray bar on the opposite side of the tank. It causes a pretty decent amount of spray. I have it that way for bamboo and Atya tankmates that like to filter feed...

Re: HELP! RCS dying slowly 1 at a time!?

Had a similar problem with my shrimp. The issue with me stemmed from poor water quality from the tap. The PH was about 6.3 and the shrimp would live but slowly die off one at a time. Your situation seems different though.. as you stated you had these in another tank (with presumably the same water)....

Question about vitamin D3 as it affects prawn moult

First post on here but not new to aquarium trade or online forums. I have a freshwater prawn that seems to be a M. Tenellum from Ecuador. His body is about 3.5" long and claws are considerably larger (7" long). He is housed in a 20-gallon long tank with a cave and some fake plants. I acqui...
