Hi all, My black gravel is turning white. I got it around 2 years ago from Petco and started out all black. A few times when topping off water or picking out algae, I’ve picked out a piece of gravel that was showing white and figured I just didn’t notice it before. But now I’m noticing a lot of them...

Really nice setups! I especially like how you used a photo of the natural habitat for the tank background. I think I’m going to have to switch out the background for my tank now!

I take it back. I may have had babies this year and not realized it. There’s a clear size diff between the original adults and the 1-yr olds. And I just saw a couple that were half the size of the 1-yr olds.

Sorry I’ve been away for a while. The work tank larvae survived and now there’s about 10 more shrimp in the tank. Haven't seen any more berried females or larvae since though. Actually, I haven’t seen any shrimp reproduction in either tank this year. I’ve had so much hair algae in the home tank and ...

It’s been at least a year of no feeding and I’m still pulling out hair algae every couple months. No signs of slowing down. I think my moss ball is gone.

Thanks for the confirmation. Once the floaters start crawling I’ll get in there and clear it out. I wonder if I fed them twice in December and gave them 2 holiday dinners? Good thing I went cold turkey in Feb after noticing the algae growth. They might have to fast until Thanksgiving.

The rocks in the tank are coral rubble collected off the beach many years ago.

This is the first year I’ve noticed a spring rush. I’ve had continuous babies for the last three months. I need to go in and clean out some algae but there’s just too many floaters about.

After a week, they’ve gone back to their normal color.

Thank you! I started off with maybe 20 shrimps, added a light, ordered a dozen shrimp from Petshrimp a year ago, and the population has done really well.
