I'd been planning a collection trip too, once I heard about this a while back. I didn't know you were planning a trip too, Badflash. Lake Michigan is about a 45 min drive (If I remember correctly. It's not far.) from my house. It does say they have been found in lake Michigan... I'm trying to talk m...

How often should I do water changes to remove the tannins, or will it dissipate on it's own? If you have just removed the leaves, I would just keep up you're normal WC regimen, and over time, all the tannins will be carried out along with the Wc water. No need to overstress the shrimp with extra WC...

The first batch of RCS babys are doing well. I can see a faint red striped down some of their backs now. Amanos are doing well. I don't think the new 3 are actually bluish. It was just the lighting at the LFS. Heres a new pic: (I like taking pictures.) http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c285/pufferfi...

Oh - the only thing I'm really confused about raising the Peppermint Larvae, is if they actually will feed on green water and phyto, or if they need things like artemia and BBS....I'll keep reading. I've got a 44 page scientific paper I'm about to go read through. :-) I'll just start a new thread so...

1. Do you think the Amano Shrimp ate any of the cherryshrimp young? No, I'm 99.9% sure that Amanos will not eat Cherry shrimp young. I see the young grazing right along next to the Amanos. Infact, I actually saw a medium sized Amano just walked along, grazing. Suddenly, a 3 day old Cherry shrimp ca...

Hi John, I read your RCS profile and found it was pretty good. I think anything that helps expand the ranks of the freshwater invertebrate keeping hobby is a positive thing. The general lack of understanding is one of the most limiting factors affecting the expansion of the ranks. Thanks Apistomast...

I Helped Write a RCS Profile
Well, I helped put together the RCS profile for Tropical Resources. I am proud. :-) It's not perfect - I'll be making more revisions to it. I did write the majority of it, but not all of it was written by me. I had gone over it with a fine tooth comb, but I can already see a few revisions that need ...

Don't forget - if the abdominal area extends below the shrimps pleopods, it's a female. The enlarged abdominal cavity is so they can store eggs. Have you read the articles/FAQ? A lot of your answers will be there. And yes, a bright patch behind the head is a saddle, and means the shrimp is female as...
