Do Opae's have feeding times?

Hi all, It's been about 3 weeks since I added my shrimp to the tank. They have been hiding ever since (you can see my other post "where have they gone" to read about that. Anyway... they are slowly making an appearance but I notice its only certain times of the day. I'll see about 5 to 7 o...

Re: Compatible tankmates/plants

Generally, crab larvae do hatch in a pretty advanced stage. There are, on average, only 4 larval stages and a "megalop" stage. To develop into a juenile crab, the larvae can take anywhere between 2 to 5 weeks depending on temperature and feeding rate. Apparently the eggs hatch in about 10...

Re: Where have they gone?

Sounds like there is something wrong, obviously. Did you make up your brackish water with RO or distilled water? If you used tap water, that would be your problem. Other than that the only culprit I can think of is the food you gave them. Even if it seems like a tiny pinch to us, it's a huge amount...

Re: Where have they gone?

You say you saw them crawling around the first day. Your situation does sound odd. I also received my shrimp about 14 days ago. But in addition to crawling around, my shrimp have been actively swimming throughout the tank. I see them feeding on the rocks, feeding on the glass and swimming upside do...

Where have they gone?

I've had my supershrimp for 14 days now, and I haven't seen them since I put them in my tank. Now I do have quite a bit of rock set up to look like a small reef. This is for my own personal need to have my tank look nice and for no other reason. For the first day I would see a couple crawling around...

Worried about my room temperature for my SuperShrimps

This winter has been very cold and to keep my already expensive gas bills down, I've kept it pretty darn cold in the house. Most of my reading says that temperature is no concern for the supershrimp. But I wonder if they expect people to keep it THIS cold in the house. I keep the temp at 66 degrees ...

Common names for petshrimp.com's brackish snails?

Hi,

I purchased some snails from your site.

I'm really bad at remembering scientific names, so....

What are the common names for the Terebia granifera and Melanoides tuberculatas?

I can't seem to find any info on them here. Or I'm just missing it.

Thanks!

I got it at Petsmart. It was about $9.99 for 6 pieces about the size of a baseball (different odd shapes). It was enough to build a reef in my small tank.

It has a fine sand in the bottom and a 50/50 light. I have the salinity at 1.012 I wasn't able to find calcium rocks bu...

Re: Confusion. Please help

I'm sorry. I see the snails and macroalgae available on the site now. Not sure why I didn't see before, but I'd still like to know the answers to my other questions. Especially.... what about stagnate and smelly water? Also... What are you guys using to buffer the water? Could a few drops of liquid ...

Confusion. Please help

I'm wanting to start a small SuperShrimp tank, but have some questions first. I think I have most info figured out but still confused. I'm not sure about the type of snail everyone is adding to their supershrimp tanks? So... what kind and where are you getting them, as I see no snails available on t...
