Re: Nanosphere 9

That's a lot of shrimp! It's nice when you get a good number of them, and you can see the activity in the tank from across the room, like a tiny red snow storm. So, how many shrimp do you have? Are they from Mustafa, or a local hobbyist?

Re: My Nano Tank Set Up Success Story

Like Varanus mentioned, I had success leaving my lid off. Until I did that, I had gone 1-2 months without any algae growth. Once I removed the lid, I had algae galore in about a week. It may have just been a coincidence though, so I look forward to reading about your results.

Re: Where shrimp come to die....

Did you say there is a heater in this tank? If the heater is malfunctioning, it could be electrocuting the shrimp. I watched a video a while ago with someone who had a shrimp tank and their heater started to shock the shrimp. Please take the heater out as it should not be necessary.

Re: New Tank - HELP

It took a long time for my tank to grow algae. What I ended up doing was removing the lid, which will help to introduce spores. I found that very effective!
And like Varanus mentioned, it would be a good idea to implement a light cycle.

Re: Shrimp's swimmerets are stretched out why?

I have noticed a few of my female shrimp look like that right before releasing either fertilized eggs into the pleopods, or releasing all their hatched larvae into the tank. Could that have happened to your shrimp?

Re: New tank set up

Just saw the video. It's awesome!! :) I may actually link to it from one of the pages on this website if you don't mind. Looking forward to more videos! Thanks! It was fun to put together the video, but I wish I did a better job. I plan to do more videos soon and that way I will get better with the...

Re: My First Tank

No, there will be no problem if you wait another month or more. Shrimp do best in a well established tank. People are more likely to experience problems if they add the shrimp too soon.

Re: New tank set up

When I first got my shrimp, I shot some footage for a member who was curious. I finally edited the video and uploaded it to YouTube. I hope to do some more videos soon and a tank update. If any of you are interested, here is the link. It is basically a petshrimp.com unboxing and I add them to the ta...

Ace! I just remembered my parents will be driving through San Diego soon! I will see if they can stop by. What is the name of the store?

Re: Discovered A New Brackish Water Plant!

Ace, I want to help you but I'm not planning a trip to southern CA for at least a few months. I just checked and San Diego is 493 miles from my house, and about 100 miles away from where I usually go when I visit down south (Disneyland). I didn't realize it was so far out of the way. :( I have some ...

Re: New SuperShrimp Fan!

That is going to be a nice setup! The dragon stone with the hole is nice. This makes me want to set up another tank.
Are you going to add anything to help buffer the water?

Re: shrimp without legs!!

Thanks to you I learned a new word today: excuviaes. There is no need to remove the molts/exoskeletons/excuviaes. The shrimp will scavenge these for nutrients, and doing this is in fact quite beneficial for them. In the future, leave the molts in the tank. Good job on the water change and removing d...

Re: Discovered A New Brackish Water Plant!

Ace, thanks for adding pictures. It is very pretty.
Please update the thread if you find anything else out, otherwise I will try to get some for you and Kencotigirl (if you want them) the next time I'm down south.
